CHAPTER 10: DARK FOREST

Marcus didn't believe that he got scammed by this lady and it was a lot. How could she do this to him?

Marcus was upset but his need for the water was much higher than his anger. He looked at the price list and he was stunned.

The steamed buns and water both cost 500 copper coins each, the dumplings were 1 silver coin per serving, the biscuits were 500 copper coins and the chips were 1 silver coin.

"Oh, and another thing, I will add it later, you are only allowed to buy just one serving for each item, so please choose wisely," Alayna kindly reminded as she looked at Marcus earnestly.

Remembering how special the water was, Marcus decided to ignore getting scammed and buy a few things before he leaves.

"Give me one of each!" like a tycoon, he ordered.

"Pay first and food later. Do you want to pay with money or spirit stones?" she asked to hope that he will give her some spirit stones.

She was in dire need of them at the moment.

Marcus looked at Alayna and then thought of his remaining money. He has around 100 silver coins in his storage ring and several spirit stones. Level one spirit stones were no longer useful to him so he didn't mind using them.

"How do I pay using them?"

Hearing this question, Alayna gladly took out the other price list that the system provided for her overnight.

The spirit stones were split into nine levels and level 1 was the lowest. As currently, this place was still unknown, it wasn't sure that someone will bring a spirit stone over level 1.

But the price list still included all levels in one go. Level 1 spirit stone – 5 silver coins, level 2 spirit stone – 50 silver coins, level 3 – 1 gold coin, level 4 spirit stone – 100 gold, level 5 spirit stone – 1,000 gold coins, level 6 spirit stone – 1 million gold coins, level 7 - 10 million gold coins, level 8 – 100 million gold coins and level 9 – 1 billion gold coins.

"Inflation is taken into consideration hence the prices but my prices are much better than the ones outside," Alayna shamelessly advertised herself.

Marcus nodded her head as what she has said this time was actually the truth.

"I will pay using a spirit stone then," he said as he took out one spirit stone and passed it to her.

Alayna accepted the spirit stone and placed it into the new cash till and began to pack the food for the rich customer. The total bill amounted to 2,5 silver coins which means that she owed the man another 2,5 silver coins.

Marcus looked at Alayna who was in the middle of looking for a change and he shook his head, "you can keep the change for now. I will return tomorrow to buy more."

Alayna was of course happy with this decision as she currently didn't have any change to give to him. She sat down in the tuck-shop after he left and began to cultivate, drawing energy from the forest and before she could achieve anything, Marcus was back again.

"How can I help you again?" she asked looking at him with a puzzled expression.

"Is it possible for me to let someone else buy for me when my chance for the day is gone?" Marcus suddenly thought of this when he was on his way and couldn't help but come back.

She had not thought of this before but she couldn't answer this question as the system was the one that sets the rule and after hearing no response, she smiled happily.

"Yes, that can also be done."

Since the system didn't reject the idea, it meant that it was plausible. It seems that she was going to earn the money quickly and she couldn't wait to receive the rewards.

When Marcus heard this beautiful answer, he bides the other goodbye and vanished.

"Alas, that level of cultivation is just great. One needs to be either a martial disciple or above that to be able to achieve something like that and to think that decades of my life were wasted and I couldn't even fly on a damn sword, I have completely failed my ancestors!"

Alayna decided to push aside all these nasty thoughts aside and concentrate on her cultivation. With a yellow spirit root, her talent was much better than before so working hard was a must.

But it seems like it wasn't her day at all as she got disturbed again before she could do a single thing. Alayna looked with shock as a queue of men and women came towards her shop.

[To think that there was a mysterious shop hidden in the forest all this time!]

[Do you think that the immortal will let us go if we do this?]

The men and women were just worried and scared. Although the immortal has promised them a good wage for doing this and protection in the forest, it was still scary to walk in the Dark Forest they have feared for a very long time.

When they saw the woman inside the shop, they even feared for her life.

[How can she work by herself in such a scary place?]

[She must be fine if she is here like this!]

Alayna calmed down quickly and looked at the men and women here to send money to her, "welcome everyone to my humble shop. How can I help you today?"

Most of the people that came were illiterate so they didn't know how to read and write, they were here for a purpose so they simply stated their purpose for coming.

[We want the servings for everything in the shop!]

She knew who had sent these people but she never thought that he will bring so many people like this, "sure, 2,5 silver coins each."

The people grudgingly gave the money to the shopkeeper and accepted the paper bags with the food. How can such a small amount of food cost a lot of money like that?

The question was left unanswered as Alayna was only concerned with collecting her money. And just like that, she earned in just one day 50 silver coins excluding the spirit stone she received earlier in the morning.
