The Clock Tower of El Corazon University

Hugo looks around nervously, hoping to find Angelo. Unaware of the surroundings, he checks the clock and sees that it is already 11:01, feeling regret for not waking him up when they both had a course in the morning early and for not touring the campus with him. The male students come in and take their random seats.

Some of them are nervous and fidgeting as they wait for the lecturer.

(Well, I can't blame them, we all are first years and starting to attend.)

11:08

I glanced at my pocket watch as I rushed over to my class. I didn't think I would make it, but I'm not willing to let myself be lectured by professors; it's my first day. In the corridor, I turned left and saw a man with glasses and a white cane in his right hand who seemed to be having a hard time. As I walked past the man, he called out to me.

"Hey, you there, lad. Do you mind showing me the direction to the cafeteria?"

"Huh?"

To my surprise, I look back to the man, who called me out, (How in the world does he know I'm here?) I can ignore him and go on my way or help him out a bit. Without a second thought, the guy approaches me. He knows I'm here. I had no choice but to help him out a bit, don't need to be worried at all still got time.

11:10

Once the door opens and sees Angelo walking in and decide to sit behind me. After that, the lecturer then followed suit and entered the class. The lecturer introduced himself and began to teach. I lean back and whisper to Angelo,

"The hell, where had you been?" Hugo asked

"I took a little a detour and all…."

=============

"Did you get lost or something?"

"Yeah, I ended pumping into this-"

The lecturer cleared his throat, telling us to stop chatting, and returned to lecturing. Both Angelo and I switch our focus on the lesson. It's not safe to say that this university is one of the most elite in this our country; they are strict with its students, but it's the first institute to have both genders are allowed to attend although we share the same campus but still separated.

Starting today, it's our first class as the first year needs more improvements, but I will say that this institute is the first stepping stone to having equality for education.

After the class, Hugo accompanied me to one of the cafeterias I hadn't paid a visit to since yesterday. It was filled with many growling guts lined up in front of the counter, waiting for their meal.

We also followed suit and joined in the line; when it was our turn Hugo was in front, his eyebrows raised, and his month waded when he saw Theresa, our dorm supervisor. The other boys behind, including me, chucked at Hugo, acting all awkward.

It looks like the other guy's witnessed what happened between them yesterday. We know for a fact that Hugo has a thing for Theresa; after the whole teasing of Hugo in front of our supervisor, the two of us, including the other guys, joined us at the table, and together we enjoyed our meal. The two introduced themselves; they were both in 1st year.

Then introduced both Hugo and me. After having a nice meal, the four of us go on in our perspective classes and counties on our studies and Curiosity;

From class to class, I found myself struggling to keep up with the other students, and as my final class of the day will be arts and literature, I choose to ease myself up and enter the course with a sigh.

Sat down in the back and waited for our lecturer to come; it took up to twenty minutes when the lecturer showed up.

It surprised me the man I helped had helped this morning; he introduced himself as Mateo Garcia, in short, Prof. Garcia. He taught us the subject of works of literature and how do arts come with it.

(Is it just me… it feels like I can understand this stuff more than the others.) As soon as the class ended, Prof. Garcia left us a task to pass on Friday. As we all go, I think back at our lecturer, who was able and still able to teach while being handicapped, and I started to respect him for that.

As I left the building while being inspired by and decided to work on the given task. Walk for a bit and sit down on the bench near the view of the tall clock tower and the sunset. Was memorizing the scene and shifted my focus to the task at hand.

"It's been a while doing a sketch; hope didn't get rusty after 3 years."

I mumbled to myself as sketching the scene in my head. I closed my eyes to think of something and open when I thought of it and started to put my pen into paper.

As a result of sketching for an hour, I'm done. I look again at my sketch and have drawn the view of the beautiful sunset and the infamous clock tower. I suddenly took notice of my sketch to see a small figure inside the clock window. I looked back at the tower to see nobody at the window.

(Strange, I don't remember including this character.)

A wind blows through me hard, making my sketch blow from my lap towards the hill of the clock tower; hold on. I said while standing up from my seat and approaching the clock tower. I picked up my sketch at the hill and felt something inside the clock tower.

Being curious and all, I entered without permission. Inside the building, dust all over the places and books that haven't been touched for a long time. When seeing a singular metallic, geometrical stair leading to the top.

Someone like me who likes to explore decided to climb up the stairs without hesitation when I noticed it was so clean without dust at the top of the tower when I entered the room I took. The top was filled with books on shelves. It's like the whole place had been being used.

"May I know who you are?"

A suddenly heard voice was picked up by my ear behind me. I was right. After all, someone is maintaining this room, and I turn to face the voice behind me.
