Chapter nine

Serena shot her gaze up and froze. It wasn't the person she expected to act so bold with her. Her gaze weakened.

Damian stared at her, his eyes sparkled with a cold intelligence as he assessed her.

Serena swallowed hard. Caught in the man's hold like a rabbit in a snake's lair. The way his fingers felt as they touched her skin, made her whole body tingle. The heat radiating from his arms, like a warm she lacked in her past life.

The pair of tantalizing green eyes that stared at her left her speechless. Her lips parted to say something, but the words failed to leave her mouth.

She was stuck in a situation that she quite didn't understand. Neither was Damian speaking nor was he doing anything. He stood still watching her with interest.

Sweat formed on her forehead, she was nervous from the intense way that he eyed her. She lowered her gaze and stared at the ground trying to ignore the butterflies in her stomach.

"What are you up to?" Damian finally let in a word. Serena pressed her lips together. That was the question that she was sure everyone was thinking. The answer was complicated.

"Ta-taking what is m-mine," she states stuttering. She fumbled with words. He affected her confidence, all of which seemed to fade away when he stared at her.

"..."

Damian increased the intensity of his gaze. Feeling the piercing gaze on herself, Serena felt the need to bite her lower lip yet she held herself back from doing so. She didn't want to give the young man before her any ideas.

The situation between them was getting heated with each passing moment.

"When did I become yours?" Damian asked his voice a soft whisper beside her ear.

His hot breath on Serena's skin caused her to shiver. Her heartbeat raced in her chest in a fast unsteady beat.

Serena was certain that Damain could hear the sound of her heartbeat. There was something about that question that got her shaking, the fear of him turning her down and choosing Sophia was with her.

"Wasn't that obvious," Serena uttered sternly raising her eyes to meet his. Using all the control in her body to keep her from showing how unsure she was of her words.

Desires filled Damian's eyes as Serena's words washed over him. His lips curled up into a bigger grin.

"Do you have any idea the weight of your words or do you utter whatever comes to mind?" Damian questioned.

His eyes took a darker form that was hard to read. Serena tried to see what was going on in his mind but he wasn't letting on what he was feeling.

She just then realized how close the two of them were to each other. Damian had closed all the distance between them and pressed his body to hers. She gulped.

From the corners of her eyes, Serena spotted Sophia watching the two of them. She wasn't the only audience she and Damian had. Alex wasn't so far behind her stepsister, standing closely with her fake best friend.

Serena's lips curled up into a devious smirk, they were yet to realize that she had seen them. Instead of stepping back from Damian, Serena allowed her body to take over.

Yearning filled her eyes as she looked at the man before her. She encircled her hands around Damian's neck and pulled him more closer to her.

Gripping the back of his neck, she angled for deeper contact. "I have told you what I think, tell me," she began to say while wetting her lips with her tongue seductively. "Do you feel the same way for me?" She inquired.

Damian smirked, the nerve he was seeing in Serena that night was igniting a flame inside of him. A flame that he badly desired and didn't wish to have extinguished.

He examined her, the look in her eyes confused him, he had never seen her look at him like that. Most of the time she didn't even acknowledge his presence, it made him curious why she suddenly changed her mind and was showing interest in him.

The girl wasn't giving him anything from her mischievous look. It only promised danger which he was okay with. The thing that troubled him was her reasons.

"Don't you have a boyfriend?" Damian asked without stepping back from her.

"Had, past tense," Serena spoke out leaning forward, her lips quivering slightly over his. "You are my present and if you'll allow it then hopefully my forever," she uttered confidently.

Her confidence surprised him, he clearly seen her boyfriend with her the previous day and they seemed fine. The boy was also at the party and has been with her for half the night.

Yet, the way she spoke, he didn't spot a single emotion in her for him. People didn't fall out of love that quickly. "Why?" He let out.

Serena brushed her lips against his. Damian pulled at her waist in response to her astonishing bold move.

"Would you believe me if I said that it has always been you?" She asked him not keeping her voice down. She needed certain people to hear her. "That I loved you from the first time I saw you?"

Serena recalled the night she heard him confess his love for her. The day her eyes opened to see those who loved her and her enemies, the day those few words from Damian's mouth warmed her heart made her cold soul hopeful.

It was the moment that she chose to live for herself, with him being the center of her life in her second chance. She knew that she could treat him better than she did before.

"Alex, he was just a distraction to try and forget you and hopefully move on. Since I couldn't have you," Serena confessed. "But now I realize that I can't forget you and I don't want to. So by hook or by crook, you will be mine," she confidently claimed.

Her words crisscrossed the three audiences that were watching them. The look on their faces was priceless to Serena. 'This is just the beginning you three, the worst is yet to come,' she thought.

"Wow!"

That was all that Damian could say after listening to her. She sounded so convincing that his heart melted to her words. She rendered him speechless.
