Move 10: The Port Capital III

Oli's POV

After Michael introduced us to Sir Eli, Michael immediately asked if we could stay here for a couple of days because of the business we needed to do here on Kuku.

When Sir Eli heard that, without any questions, he then guided us and lent us rooms we could use.

I was alone in the room while Michael and the brothers were sharing a room.

The room was not luxurious. It was made from wooden planks, and every time I moved, a creaking sound could be heard, but it was okay as this room was only a disguise.

After I locked the room, I opened the portal after ten days of not opening it.

The smell of familiarity ran through my nose after I step-in on my apartment.

"Haaah… At last, home sweet home!"

After I said that, I instantly ran to the bathroom to shower and take a dump.

Though in those past ten days, I experienced something new, I cannot deny the reality that something was missing.

First is taking a proper shower.

Michael and the brothers were content wiping their bodies, but I'm not.

When I come back to Leefside, I will make sure to introduce and teach proper hygiene to the villagers. To prevent the spreading of some diseases.

The second is the proper place to sleep.

Because I could not open the portal back then, I was using a mattress made from animal skin as my sleeping pad.

Those were the difficult times of my life.

Lastly, the food.

As a Filipino, rice is my staple food. While Michael and the brothers were enjoying meat stew and fried dishes, I was looking for rice, but sadly, there was none.

After I finished taking my shower, I immediately put on some comfortable clothes and jumped on the mattress that I hadn't used in the past ten days.

My stomach was rumbling, but I shrugged it off. I will eat when I wake up. But for now, sleeping was my priority.

It was now past 5:00 PM when I woke up.

I wore my hoodie and went out to grab some food.

After eating my fill, I went back to my apartment. I wore back my tunic clothes and opened the portal. But before I stepped in, I looked back to my apartment.

"Hahaha… After I finish all of the things that I need to do, I will make sure to find and buy a house. Hmmm… Maybe I could also hire a maid?"

I said while looking at my messy apartment.

I closed the portal after I stepped in. I walked out of my room and strode towards the first floor, where the pub was located.

Though I call it a pub, it was empty. Empty. I walked towards the counter because I saw Sir Eli doing something.

"There are a lot of customers."

I joke while looking around.

"There is a lot indeed! HAHAHAHA!"

Sir Eli replied while laughing, and he was using a polite tone.

"Where is there?"

I asked where Michael and the brothers were.

"They were out. After you went to your room and rested, I invited them to drink, but I didn't expect that we were going to consume a couple of bottles.

And I'm sorry for that, Baron. I tried to knock on your door, but you didn't answer, so I forced them to drink with me, so please, don't punish them. I'm willing to accept any punishment you're going to give."

Sir Eli said while bowing his head.

"Please. Raise your head. I'm not a simpleton, so I understand. Based on the introduction, it seems that it's been years since you and Michael saw each other. And friends needed to catch up to each other."

I replied.

I'm not like those Nobles I watched and read in novels and anime who are going to be enraged on this trivial matter.

I become a Baron, a Noble but only in name.

"You're not like those stinking Nobles, Baron."

Sir Eli sharply said.

It seems that he has bad memories of Nobles.

"I don't have a habit of meddling in another person's business, but if you don't mind, Baron, what business are you going to do here?

Everyone knows that the Vedrain Kingdom was on the brink of destruction because of that foolish King and the Nobles who holed up on Lisi believing that the Solon Kingdom would attack."

"Well… I needed seeds and farming equipment as well. I planned to operate the farmland on Leefside once again."

When I said this, the eyes of Sir Eli widened as if he wasn't sure if what he heard was correct.

"I don't know if you knew this, but Leefside was getting attacked by the soldiers from the Credia Empire, burning and ransacking the village.

And if we want to have peaceful farming and harvest days, we need a wall that is somehow going to protect us from anyone who has an ill intention toward us.

An expert builder was badly needed to build a wall. And I was hoping to buy a builder slave, who's going to help us build a wall."

I added.

Sir Eli deeply ponders while listening. And after a minute, he spoke.

"The seeds and farming equipment… It was everywhere. Each merchant shop here was selling seeds and farming equipment, so you could easily buy one.

The problem is the slave builder.

Currently, the Literra Empire were hogging and buying all the builder slave on the market. So finding one was difficult, and even if you found one, it has a high price."

Sir Eli explained.

I can buy seeds and farming equipment on Earth, but I don't know if the villagers could contain their growing curiosity about where I get all the things I was using.

I don't know what excuse I would use if they asked me about that.

"Sighed."

I took a breath while having that thought, but it seems that Sir Eli misunderstands it.

"No need to worry about that, Baron. Tomorrow, I will accompany Michael and the others on looking for the slave builder you need."
