And she was up for it. 'Diamonds are a gleaming and strong cause of the pressure they faced when they were nothing,' she reminded herself.
"She is not a young lady of the Hills when she is here. Treat her like you do to her rivals," The whole place was quiet at the moment. "Make yourself and others strong, that's why we teach you in groups here."
Everyone was looking up at the master shooter of the family, Claude. With an elegant face, he had a lot of skill, the smile he always kept hid fangs beneath that could tear someone and they could do nothing. But that wasn't the only thing he could do, but he kept other things secret so that it would be a surprise for their enemy and everyone was aware of that.
"Be respectful, be kind, but be sure to have doubts about someone as well. Trusting someone 100% could mean inviting death. That's it!" he said and slightly bowed.
Everyone switched their weapon to their left hand while their right hand made a fist and they bowed in Claude's direction. Every single one of them was in sync, fire was clearly burning within them. "Yes, sir!"
Even Eve felt the intimidation. That's how powerful their presence was. 'This is the future of the Hills,'
Everyone went back to doing what they were doing. They knew time was precious, and they would not waste a second of it. Yet, for toasts like such, they participated gladly. It gave them so much more hype and the feeling of 'one'.
It amazed Evy to see the crowd control her brother had. Though she didn't want to agree her brother looked really cool. That made her wonder why he doesn't have a girlfriend yet. She looked at Claude, 'good looks, rich, that leads to only one thing: his personality, which was shit.' She smiled secretly 'no wonder.'
Claude pulled back his blond hair. "Aren't I cool?"
Evy tried not to praise him. He would get too cocky. "You wish, bitch," she whispered. It was loud enough for him to hear it.
He knew it was on purpose catching her off cause he slapped the back of her head. The force was enough to make it jump a little forward.
Before she could react, someone approached them.
"Hello young master," a man who looked in his early 40s came near them. He turned to Evy, "Good morning young miss, I am the in charge here."
"morning, no need to be poli-"
"Call her Evy, she is under you now." Claude interrupted.
Evy gave a dead look but Claude completely ignored which made her even more furious. In fact, Claude lives to annoy her. Which also concludes the saying, you'd give a kidney but not food. Likewise, Claude loved her, and was a typical annoying brother.
"You know what to do right, Mr Steve?" He asked the bulky man.
"Certainly, sir"
He bowed slightly before Claude before turning to Evy, "Please follow me," he said and started walking.
Evy looked at Claude for approval. She had a lot of trust issues and right now her family is the only one she could trust.
He nodded before looking at Mr Steve, asking her to go quickly. She understood and quickly headed over to Steve. She could see his monstrous back, which was like a wall in front of her. He was a tall man, over 6'5 feet with huge muscles. She looked like a kid in front of him, 'If only he was green he would be hulk'.
He was one of the best fighters in the place. His daughter was also training at the moment.
On her way, she felt gazes upon her. Some were making fun of her being delicate and coming for the training very late, some were admiring her beauty and some were envious of her. It was a whole mess of emotions and views thrown at her. Regardless, she pretended she didn't care although she felt every single pair of eyes on her.
He took her into the equipment room. She expected the room to be full of weapons, but only 1 third of the place was full of boxes where weapons were kept. The other part of the room had books, books, and more books.
"Please take at least 12 books. You need to memorize them all within tomorrow. We will take your test and minor non-straining activities would take place." he looked at the shelves before looking at her again. "If miss passes," he empathized and slightly bowed.
Evy felt humiliated. She was being looked down on. "You don't need to worry about that, Mr Steve." she smiled. She accepted the challenge.
He smirked. "I need to head out, take your time," he said and went outside. He had looked down on her, but now he saw the fury in her eyes like another member of the Hills family. "let's see,"
"Twelve books… haha…" while she did challenge him, she didn't know if she could do it. Wobbling in the dullest way ever, she touched the shelf to see what contents they were.
Then suddenly Evy's memory stroke her. The pain was abundant to make her drop to the ground, though she had already experienced this twice. She couldn't get used to it. If it were a normal person, they would have fainted already, but it was Evy; whose heart was just full of hatred.
It was another memory of Evy. She used to sneak here every night as a teen and had memorised every single book here. She was extremely determined to be stronger and be helpful to her family, she loved them so much just to be used to them one day she studied everything a trainee would have. They had denied giving her training so she had taken things into her own hands for good.
All of the details and information flooded inside Evy's brain causing a lot of pain. Panting she leaned up to the shelf, "This Evy is so hardworking."
She knew everything, what the weapons were made up of, how? Why? who made them? When? Their strength and weaknesses. She knew everything that was written in these books. She probably knew more but Evy had yet to regain those memories.
It had taken her at least 3 years to memorize this all and Evy was taking this with simply a touch. She felt guilty. She picked out some books so that she wouldn't look suspicious and headed out.
The place was vacant, she wondered if it was a small break for breakfast. Her brother wasn't in sight, she quickly got out of there.
Evy was looking at the books, she even knew which page had what information, 'Amazing….' She thought.
She wasn't even looking at the direction she was heading, let alone who was in front. "Ow…" a wimped left her mouth. She had crashed over someone, the books fell down.
"Sorry," they said. She immediately recognized that voice, and with a full guard, she looked. It was the doctor, the voice echoed in the back of her head causing her a lot of irritation. 'This bastard…'
She sighed trying to contain all her anger in. "It's okay," she said and hurriedly picked up books. The doctor helped her, "thank you," she smiled and stood up.
She had to know what the doctor was doing here, "Why are you here doc?" she smiled trying to be friendly when her blood was boiling inside. She tightened the grips on the books which were in her hand trying to control her urge to punch him in his face.
That second Evelyn got to know how much hatred she had within her. Amelia, her ex, this doctor, hatred or revenge, everything became louder and clearer for her. She would do anything and everything that needs to be done for her to get her revenge.
