I Will Wait

Maddie was so furious that she didn't realize she was crying until she got to the front of her apartment building and the taxi driver asked her if everything was all right.

She wiped the tears on her cheeks with the back of her hand as she paid the driver not even bothering to wait for her change and she ran upstairs to her apartment. When she got to her door she met Ava's mother standing there.

"Oh Maddie, thank God you are here, I have been waiting for you," the scrawny-looking woman said, her eyes almost popping out of their sockets, happy to see Maddie.

"Look, if you are here to ask me about Ava, I already told you I don't know where she is," Maddie said not bothering to hide the fact that she was not happy to see her.

"Oh Maddie, come on," she itched her neck as she spoke, an action which has now become a habit. "We both know that that is a lie. You know where she is, so please just tell me."
