Silence Won't Help

Later that evening, Ava paced around the living room thinking of what she was going to say to Mason as she waited for him to get back.

Just then, the front door opened and Mason walked in. He seemed tired, his tie had been taken off and the sleeves of his shirt were rolled up showing off his taut muscles.

Ava paused in her tracks. "Hey, welcome back, how was work?"

"Fine," Mason answered in a clipped tone not bothering to stop to look at her.

"Mason, please can we talk?"

"I've had a long day, talking is the last thing I want to do."

"Um okay..." Ava trailed off as she tried to think of something to say.

"Would you like me to draw you a bath?"

"No!" Mason answered from the bottom of the stairs.

Ava stood in the living room watching Mason as he ascended the stairs. She needed to get him to talk to her, but she didn't know how.
