Layla's heart was pounding so fast against her ribs as she turned to face Dan.

He was holding out her phone for her. His face held both pain and betrayal. Tears pooled in Layla's eyes when she looked at him.

She wished for the ground to open up and swallow her. How was she supposed to explain herself out of this situation?

"Here," he pushed his hand forward.

Layla reached for her phone with a shaky hand and took it from Dan. She hadn't even realised that she had forgotten her phone in his car.

"Dan I'm--"

"Enjoy the rest of your evening," Dan said in a cold tone, turning around to leave.

"Dan please wait!"

"Layla--"

Jason tried holding Layla back but she pushed him off.

"Dan please wait, let me explain. It's---" Layla said, Dan didn't respond, he just kept walking until he got to his car.

"Dan please let me explain, it's not what it seems."

Dan spun around to face, his expression now held anger.
