Chapter 99: Camp

[Vereena]

Callum altered our boots and put spikes on the soles to hold into the ice planes. The vast expanse of this place seems to stretch endlessly and the sun's direct light was obscured by the thick fog drifting above us.

"I'll the leave Jewel in your good hands, lad."

I watch Callum ruffle Edric's hair after he had given the rest of the crew that will remain at the ship his instructions while we are gone. They need to keep Jewel oiled, maintained, and set her ready at all times in case of a worst-case scenario.

We have packed the supplies that would sustain our needs in the cold for a maximum of five days. If we have not yet seen the mark until then, then we have no choice but to go back.

"Vee." Edric turns to me, toughening his countenance not to cry as he closes our distance and pulled me into a tight hug and whispers. "I won't say my goodbye so that you will come back."
