Fighting

In the wasteland, you can normally find the wreckage of cars of a ruined building that is in the middle of nowhere. Vero and the guy is hiding in the bus wreckage that is half-submerged in the ground.

But despite the hiding place the ruin tracker still senses their presence and heading their way. This monster instruct is so primitive that it'll only hunt the closest and easiest target that they could find. In this case, it's Vero and this guy.

Bang BAng BAng!

A gunshot rang through the wasteland with the bullet going to a ruin tracker in the distance. It now is only a few hundred meters away from reaching them.

"Hey, kid! Can you delay That monster!? I will set up a trap!"

Vero nod. He's already shooting at the ruin tracker and slowing it down from a repeated shoot in its right leg. His shoot from earlier has an effect on the monster. With its balance slightly off from the wound, the monster slowed down a little.

He is buying more time for himself and the other guy to set up the trap. Vero still has some doubt about the trap but since the guy defends him earlier Vero trusts his word and keeps his focus on shooting down the monster.

minute pass the monster gets closer

two minutes passed. Vero can now shoot the monster accurately but it also means that the monster is closer to him too. With every passing second Vero starts to get more anxious The ruin tracker will reach him in about a minute and his partner is not making any noise.

"Hey! Are you finish..."

BOOM!

A burst of gas filled the yellow bus making it hard to see anything. Vero coughed up the gas that he inheld. He is extremely confused about what is going on but a moment later his slum kid mentality kicks in with an explanation.

'I have been abandoned?!'

He has been too careless in the past few months in the Dumo underground facility and all the positive people that he met when returning to the city.

'People are still people huh'

He is too focused to notice that the guy has already left. Now he only has himself to blame for this massive blunder. He tries to think of what to do next. However, the ruin tracker doesn't seem to let him do that.

busting through the bus walls the creature tries to eat him together with the walls. Luckily for Vero, the walls slow the monster down enough for him to dodge it. He rolls to the side, dodging the bite by a hair length.

He doesn't know how to kill this monster so his only option is to escape. He hops out of the bus to give himself a clear vision since the bus is filled with gas. The one thing he learns when facing a ruin tracker is that when they are close enough they could see him through walls.

His experience with them has now payoff but not in a way he expected. He waited for the ruin tracker to break through the bus walls but to his surprise the ruin tracker never did it.

'What?'

He couldn't grasp what is going on. Normally once the ruin tracker that he faces in the simulation chases him down relentlessly but it seems like it got lost him in the smoke.

"Kid! Get over here!"

Vero looks over and sees the guy that left him earlier waving at him. His expectation has been subverted once again by the guy returning. Vero quickly goes over to the guy. He gave Vero a smug face.

"Didn't expect me to be here aren't you."

"Well.." Vero hesitate "Yea"

"Well, I would have thought the same if I were you." He gestures to Vero to follow him. "But it's a necessary sacrifice."

"Why don't you tell me earlier. I would've had a bigger chance otherwise" In the midst of the action Vero forgot that he could have reset time to get out of that situation. Luckily the guy didn't abandon him.

"Well, most people wouldn't agree to be a live bait and I don't want to gamble on that. So my solution is this."

"..." Vero is a little annoyed by the guy but he is more curious about something else. "What are those gases?"

"Oh, those are a hallucination gas. It's my ultimate trump card meant to save my life and in this case, it did a wonderful job. The smoke only lasts for a few minutes though so we should hurry up."

"If you have something like that why not use it earlier?"

"First, it's an expensive item that one cost around 1 million tels per canister. Second, if the gas has been released in an open area it'd disappear in no time. That's why I waited for this moment."

Vero felt like the guy didn't tell him all the detail but he decide to ask any further. The two ran through the wasteland toward the O'ruma city. along the way, they got rescued by the rescue team from the city.

On their way back they got interrogated by the inner wall personnel about what exactly happened in the patrol truck. They want to hear all sides of the story before taking any action. Normally this incident would have been glossed over by the inner walls people but due to it happening on inner walls truck property the 'kid throwing' incident has to be dealt with by the standard of the inner wall.

This would save the Patrol operation team face and reinforce the safety hunter policy and overall good PR for the city. They order the arrest of the guy that throws Vero out immediately since The outer wall people don't have the right to defend themself.

Since they're treating this as an inner wall incident and gave Vero and another guy compensation for the incident that happened on the inner walls property. They escort Vero to the hunter guild to settle the cost.
