Chapter Twenty One — The life of a lower class bride

Emerald

Brian and I were currently on our way to his family house, and saying that I was nervous would certainly be an understatement.

This wasn't going to be my first time in the Huxley mansion, but it was going to be my first time meeting the entire family and I did not know how I was going to deal with their scrutinizing and judgmental eyes.

I already met Brian's mother, Reina, and the things that she said to me were still very vivid in my mind. She made it very obvious that she disliked me and that she did not want me to marry her son, and I wouldn't have been so bothered by her dislike if marrying her son was a decision I made willingly.

The fact that she knew that I wasn't given a choice on whether or not I was interested in marrying Brian yet, she chose to refer to me as a gold digger and the likes, made me feel both irritated and upset. Now, I'm about to meet with the same woman and this time I'd also be meeting the entire family that I knew absolutely nothing about.
