The King Loved Sweets, Like Her

"Are you sure you can believe Arthur?"

Cass looked displeased after hearing the story about Arthur. Today Felix invited her and Gilbert to discuss this matter. Instead of gathering government officials and making a fuss, Felix prefers to shared information with people he trusts.

"What about the other werewolf that was with him?" Cass was still curious about this matter.

Gilbert shrugged, he didn't say much in the discussion. Felix sat still in his chair, his eyes fixed on the door.

His eyebrows frowned, and his face tensed. What Cass said earlier did not reach his ears. His head was busy remembering yesterday's incident when Holly blatantly rejected him.

"What does she really want?" Felix muttered.

Cass and Gilbert were confused. "Was the other werewolf a girl? You said it was a man."

Felix still didn't hear Cass. He couldn't focus on anything because Holly's image was still visible in his head.

Felix did not understand what made Holly reject him. Felix has everything, a handsome face, power and wealth.

After all, political marriages were ordinary things. Felix has even been married for political reasons. He never rejected her even though, in the end, he didn't touch her or consider her a wife. But why Holly couldn't do that?

Holly said she could marry a man she had not met, but why did she reject Felix?

"Are you here?" Cass waved her hand in front of Felix.

Felix was shocked. "What?"

"Are you listening?" Cass was getting annoyed. Felix was the one who hastily asked her to meet, but he ignored what she said.

Felix sighed as he rubbed his face. The plan today was to discuss his suspicions about Arthur. He had to quickly find out if Arthur was by his side before starting the fight for the throne. However, Felix couldn't force himself. His mind was in turmoil.

"You've been weird lately. What are you thinking, Your Majesty?" Gilbert still maintained his manners even though he was actually annoyed too.

"Please don't be too stiff, my brother. It's just us here." Felix leaned his back on the chair so he could relax a little. "I just can't focus."

"Are you hurt? Is it because of the poison?"

Gilbert was suddenly worried. He had heard of the poison Felix drank. Honestly, he wanted to scold his brother. Why did he drink the tea when he knew it was poisoned? But Gilbert controlled himself. Nagging Felix is pointless.

"No, I'm fine. I just..." Couldn't stop thinking about Holly. Felix pursed his lips. He wouldn't say that in front of them. His pride was more important.

"Maybe you're still tired. You should just rest." Gilbert stood to end their meeting for the day. Cass rolled her eyes. Felix was lucky that she wasn't in the mood for a fight.

Felix was still in the room alone after they left. His heart was anxious, his face was furious, and his mind was curious. All of them thanks to Holly, a tiny human who made his days even busier.

Felix stood up, pounding the table. "I can't work like this!"

With hasty steps, he left the room. Ignoring the maid who bowed respectfully to him, he climbed up the stairs stomping his feet.

Holly's door was wide open. "Where is she?" he half snapped. The room looked empty, and there was no sign of Holly there.

The maid guarding Holly's room looked down in fear. "Her Majesty is in the kitchen," she answered while trembling.

Felix was getting angry. He had to go down the stairs again. "What is she doing in the kitchen? How can a Queen be in the kitchen?" Felix was nagging all the way.

All the maids who saw him immediately turned pale. Looked like their King was going on a rampage again.

Felix opened the kitchen door, making his maids jump in surprise. "Your Majesty," they saluted him.

Felix's eyes swept across the room and caught the figure he was looking for. Holly was not surprised by his arrival, she was busy stirring something.

Ice in Felix's chest melted. His angry face turned into a big smile, making his maids even more goosebumps. Felix told them to get out, he walked slowly towards Holly to not disturb her.

Felix took a chair and sat there while watching what Holly was doing.

"What are you doing?"

Holly gasped. She was too focused on the dough to hear the door open loudly by Felix.

"I made a cake for you, Your Majesty," answered Holly with a smile.

"You can cook? I don't think a lady like you has ever stepped into the kitchen."

Holly laughed softly. "My mother used to teach me how to cook. I also often made dinner for my family. The cake isn't a big deal for me."

This very simple thing was enough to make Felix confused. Why does she have to cook for the family if she already has a waiter? Felix would never understand that kind of family thing.

Holly was busy mixing some ingredients. They had just returned to the castle this morning, and Holly immediately went looking for a goat to get the milk. She has to make her own butter from the goat's milk.

Holly lied when she said it would be easy. Making a cake with improvised ingredients like this was honestly a huge deal for her.

Moreover, it was not easy to get wheat because people here only eat meat. Luckily she got the rest of the grain from Adda. She did not have time to ask where Adda got it.

"You have a very unique family. What else did they teach you? Rise a goat?"

"Yes, my father taught me how to milk and raise goats," Holly said cheerfully.

"What?" Seriously, Felix didn't expect that answer.

Holly put the dough on the table in front of Felix. A sweet fragrant scent greeted Felix and made his nose move, smelling it.

"Even though we're nobles, we have to know how to survive if things change at any time."

Holly's smile was not as wide as before. There was sorrow in her eyes. Unexpectedly, her family had prepared for the worst.

"I thought you weren't close to your father."

"Well, we were not that close but also not too far."

Holly remembered her relationship with her father. Although Duke Reloux was indeed a strict person and rarely expressed his feelings to his children, their relationship was closer than other noble families.

"I don't understand." Felix couldn't imagine what Holly meant at all. He didn't know how a good family should be portrayed.

Holly finished kneading. She put her index finger into the dough and tasted it. "Um... Looks like it needs a little more sugar. Our King loves sweet." She looked pleased when she thought about Felix, who sat in front of her.

After adding the sugar, Holly stirred it again. This dough should be just right. Holly put her finger back into the dough.

"Can I try it too?" Before Holly tasted it, Felix was already standing beside her. He seemed eager to give it a try.

"Sure. I'll get a spoon-" Holly stopped her words.

Felix looked down. Before Holly went to get the spoon, he licked Holly's index finger.

"It's sweet," he said.
