Chapter 33: The Alpha by Moonlight

Several days passed and Desiree woke up on an evening when the room temperature had cooled considerably with the sunlight fading into the late evening. She tried to shake the feelings of hopelessness the entire situation evoked. But, it was clear that she had no control over anything and she was running out of time.

No matter what happened between her and the alpha, if Blake Devlin claimed her sister, there would be nothing anyone could do to help her, short of killing him. She’d never taken a life before, but she was certain if Devlin harmed her sister in any way, she would make him regret it.

As she sat up in bed, Desiree was surprised that she could feel that the ship had veered off of its original course to make its way to Deadswamp Island. She realized that they would be there in less than a day, coming close to the island at a distance from the main docking port.

That is as much as the alpha had shared with her on their daily walk that morning.
