Chapter 32: The Alpha in Daylight

As Desiree continued to thumb through Waylon’s journal she noted that the dog-eared pages always referenced the Sweetkane lands. In particular, he seemed interested in the milestones surrounding her grandparent’s ascension to alpha and luna followed by the birth of their only daughter, Angela Sweetkane.

For some reason, her mother’s dark hair was more than noteworthy to Waylon as he’d mentioned it more than once in the journal. She finally came to the last page and closed the book, having accumulated more questions than answers by the end.

Declan’s voice startled her. She hadn’t heard him come in.

“Why are you back so late?” she asked.

“The alpha has much to do before we make landfall on Deadswamp Island. Moving people and inventory, etc.”

“Right,” Desiree nodded understanding. She indicated his father’s journal. “Do you mind me reading it?”

He shrugged. “If you can handle all that you have learned and will learn.”

“What will I learn?”
