Chapter 35: The Alpha’s Enemy

“Shut up!” the leader’s voice growled.

“If you made any kind of deal that gets Devlin close to any of us, we’re all dead. Including you!” she continued. “Untie me now and take me to the alpha so we can fix this.”

A deathly silence fell over the deck as she imagined they all considered her words.

Suddenly, a pair of heavy boots thunked on the wooden boards of the deck. Desiree noted the pace of each step and knew they were headed in her direction, presumably to shut her up. Her heart hammered against her ribs, knowing the quickest way to get rid of her would be to throw her overboard.

Hands and feet bound, she’d have a hard time floating. She might be able to shift underwater, but even that was risky as the lightweight of her wolf could easily be taken in an undertow.

“Now, is that any way to talk about your future brother-in-law?” Blake’s seductive voice whispered in her ear as he leaned over to lift her to her feet.
