She imagined shifters bigger and stronger than her would be in the woods in the next sixty seconds. She found a clearing surrounded by tall trees and shifted back to human form.
She took the time to rub against as many haphazard trees as possible and then began to climb one, pushing through the shivering cold until she was as close to the top as possible. She knew her scent would lead them there into the clearing looking down, she realized there was just enough moonlight shining in to make out the ground.
She held her breath as the trodding of wolf paws became thicker and closer. She imagined at least ten shifters had come in after her. She held as still as she could in the cold and waited for the clearing to fill. She leaned back as they filled the clearing sniffing the ground and the trees in search of her scent.
