Chapter 46: The Alpha at the Temple

The old woman of the wild pack produced clothes to cover the very necessary areas of their bodies before they left to get to the ferry.

Before she let them leave the old woman had one more thing to say. “Fate doesn’t give us many choices,” she began. “When it does, make that choice count.”

Desiree nodded, even though she had no idea what the old woman meant.

Much of the morning had passed, but they were already near the beach. The women of the wild pack walked with them to the ferry that would carry them to the central island. Desiree toyed with her new found access to the magic around her.

“What is it like?” one of the wild women asked.

“I can’t really describe it,” Desiree admitted. “I realize the feeling of magic has always been with me. I just didn’t know that’s what it was.”

“I always thought the Flame Keeper was a myth,” she said. “But, now that you are here, what does that mean for us? What does that mean for you?”

“What should it mean?” Desiree wanted to know.
