Chapter 27: Tightrope

Michael’s POV

I was happy. There were constant meetings with Jane's father regarding the alliance and almost everything was set. All I had to do was present her father with a counteroffer, one that he couldn't refuse, and free myself from Jane for good.

The only thing that sucked was keeping Havana a secret. After the night that Jack snuck me out, Havana and I have been closer. We wait until the day is over and talk until the sun rises. My only wish is to be with her when it happens. I loved watching her blonde curls reflect in the sun, her eyes like the ocean, bright and blue.

The days without her seemed longer than before. I spent most of the time thinking of her and the other moments I'm talking to her. It's been two days since we last spoke on the phone. I was busy being the hostage fiancé and she was catching up on work. According to her, I was the distraction.

"Knock knock, it's your future wife."
