Chapter 43: Havana's Choice

Michael’s POV

Havana's supposed family waited in the hallway instead of leaving as I requested. Were they this adamant about making Havana's life difficult? I could feel my anger rising as I heard their uneven heartbeats on the other side of the door.

"Why are they still here? I told them to leave."

I was barely able to contain the anger in my voice. After speaking so recklessly about Havana how could they expect to be welcomed here? My mother paced by the front door, most likely keeping me in rather than them keeping me out.

"Can you believe them? How dare they defy me!"

"They're human, Michael. They're entitled to free will from wolves and as a mother she can't leave her child.”

I fake gag at my mother's words. That woman wasn't a mother to Havana. A mother wouldn't speak so poorly of her child. A mother wouldn't abandon her child, especially a child as pure as Havana.
