The world sways around me as I wander around the streets of Downtown without a destination. Ever since proposing to Zelia, I’ve been rejoicing by cracking open a fresh bottle of brandy and swigging down half the bottle by the time Zelia’s done sucking me off. No one seems to bother us, not even Mr. CEO himself. Maybe he’s staking a bet on how fast I can get her knocked up.
The flickering sign of The Shady Pub comes into view and I stumble inside, a wisp of black hair passing by me in a rush. My heart flutters and I watch as she disappears further into the bar. Allie.
I stumble to the counter and sit down at an empty bar stool, a sunset in a cup being served to me.
“Where’d the girl go?” the bartender asks me.
“Went to the bathroom. Don’t worry, I’m her date.” I smile.
He looks me once over but doesn’t say another word as he moves on to a different customer. I take hold of the glass and watch the little umbrella twirl around. Where the hell did she go?
