Chapter 37: Same Ol’ Apologies

Zelia’s 6 AM wake-up call almost kills me before the day starts. I peel my eyes open and stare at the ceiling as her music blares through the walls.

“Get up Saz,” she yells. “We’re going running in ten minutes.”

I groan, punching the bed. What ever happened to sleeping in and waking up to some sloppy toppy? I pull back the sheets back and hobble over to the bathroom, trying to shake the sleep off of me. This wasn’t me. Normally a run would sound like a jolt of much-needed energy. But as I splash water on my face and stare at my growing bags, I can’t help but question if the Saz I was before the engagement is gone for good. And if he wasn’t, when the hell was he planning on coming back?
