Chapter 42: Second Chances

By the time I get out of bed and ready for the day, room service is knocking at the door with a spread for way more than two people. A few maids set up the platters of food on the counter and disappear without another word. Probably a request from the manager as an apology for the room mix-up. Not that I’m complaining. "Allie," I yell, waving as grand as I can.

She expertly flips and treads the water, her black hair floating around her as she waves back.

"Breakfast," I yell, dropping my hand.
