Chapter 42: The Cell

“Azrel.” Anaya muttered but he did not respond. She kissed him again hoping that he would open his eyes and look at her but he lay there lifeless. The blood seeping from his stomach seemed never ending.

Anaya waited as patiently as she could for him to start healing like he always did. She waited for him to open his eyes and to laugh with her again. The blood began to pool beneath him.

“Why isn't he healing?” She looked to Islo who held the same blank expression that she did. “Why isn't he healing!” She repeated more urgently.

She searched his chest for a heartbeat and was relieved to find one. She looked to the sky above praying with silent lips.

“Azrel please.” She muttered again. She focused on the link between them struggling to find it through her racing emotions. She pressed her hands to his chest and allowed the energy from her body to seep into his.
