Chapter 49: The War

Azrel

“Wow.” That was all Anaya could say.

As they approached the castle the battle had already started. The sun rose to make a beautiful display of colors, but the air crackled with the sound of battle cries and clashing swords.

The ground leading to the castle was littered with broken bows and bent swords.

“They've already made it inside.” Azrel surveyed the situation.

The rebels had stormed through the front gates taking the village easily. They were flowing up through the small path that led to the main castle.

“Kinth’s troops are flanking.”

As they got close, Kinth’s men were cutting off their exit back through the main gate.

“We need to get down and start the surge over the castle walls.” Azrel took them to the woods behind the castle avoiding the attention of the battle below. Anaya immediately left to find a better bow and replace her arrows. Trager emerged from the woodwork.

“Your highness!” Trager saluted. “We are ready for the assault.”
