Since her transformation, Emilia had noticed that she didn’t sleep the same way as she used to, or like any of the other vampires in the estate. She didn’t feel the prickling burn of the sun as early as they did, and she rose much earlier in the evening, too. 


While the others were retiring to their coffins before the horizon began to lighten or rising only after it was fully dark, Emilia caught glimpses of the sunrise and sunset – slivers of light. 


She still couldn’t be exposed to direct sunlight. She no longer went into a dreamlike trance, either. Instead, she would remain completely conscious and aware of her surroundings. 


She’d become incredibly weak and unable to move around much. 


Emilia paced around the coffin room. Sada and Hotaru still slumbered, unaware of her presence. She hadn’t hidden away in a coffin since her transformation, but she had to remain in the catacomb until she was no longer in danger from the sun.
