Chapter 32: Preparing for the End

“Tommy, man, where the hell have you been?” Jason asked.

Tommy had been ignoring the calls from his agent, lawyers, and publishers since they went on the run. He hadn’t even been able to bring his cell phone with him.

Emilia had been concerned Amun had ways of tracking it.

They’d been in Japan long enough without even a whisper of Amun that Tommy had requested a prepaid cellphone. No one had objected.

“I have some personal things to take care of,” Tommy said, unapologetically.

“What is it, what’s going on? Are you back in rehab? If you are, that’s fine. I can spin the story,” the agent said.

“What? No! I am not back in rehab. Why would you think that?” Tommy snarled into the phone. He sifted through the finished pictures he’d stacked up on the bed.

“Oh, I don’t know. Recovering drug addict artist becomes a recluse shacked up with some mysterious woman, who he then disappears with for days… that sounds like a relapse binge,” Jason pointed out.
