The next day was a blur, school was finally out and for a Monday that was saying something. As I headed toward the parking lot my phone started to buzz. It was a message from Carson.


“Up for a little outdoor training?” he wrote with a winky face emoji. 


“Just tell me where.” I responded speed walking down the long hall and out the large metal double doors toward Sophies usual parking spot. She sat in her white Jeep wrangler blasting some P!nk song. We always rode to and from school together, it was probably the best part of my day. I opened the passenger door and hopped inside. “Ready to roll?” she smiled turning down the volume on the stereo.


“Yep! But would you mind taking me somewhere else instead?” I smirked.


It only took about 6 minutes to reach the Westhaven Nature Reserve. Sophie hung around for a few minutes just to make sure Carson was there and she wasn’t leaving me stranded in the forest. He met me out in the parking lot and we both waved to her as she drove off.
