Chapter 33

“What the?” the burly wolf shouted looking down at us. In one motion he flicked his cigarette and grabbed Gavin by the throat, lifting him from the ground. Gavin swung his fists clumsy, missing him; but the weight of his swing threw them off balance. They both tumbled to the ground landing hard. While they struggled to untangle themselves, I searched inside my jacket pocket and pulled out a small satchel. Pouring the contents into my hand I crawled into the hallway kneeling down. Without thinking I blew the handful of dust into the tall wolf’s face as he struggled to get back on his feet. His eyes locked on me, he began to sway and then fell backwards. Within a few seconds he was snoring loudly. The sleeping spell had worked. I felt proud as it was the first one that I had created completely on my own.
