Chapter 10 - Hard work pays off

Maddy found Klyde asleep by his laptop, which had various things on the screen including a green thing that said 'scan complete, target found'. She woke him gently and pointed to the screen. "I did it?" "Did what? What is this?" "I, found him." "You- really?" "I'll call the chief, pretty sure he knows some people here that can lend a hand."

Klyde changed into his suit and was on his way, Maddy sat on the radio, there were some officers on holiday in Paris that offered to help so they followed Klyde. And they quickly surrounded the location.

Klyde jumped in and sure enough, there he stood, shocked by the sudden appearance of the masked person. He lunged quickly for an attack but it was in vein, Klyde dodged and had him pinned to the ground in seconds, Mr Verdensel's French goons tried to help him but the police jumped in and apprehended them all. Klyde had done it, he finally caught him. The peace and pride he felt was a nice feeling for him. "I got him." He said over the radio. "mission accomplished." He could hear her and her mother celebrating, "looks like we gotta treat ourselves tonight Klyde." "If you say so."

Klyde discussed things with the cops, they said they'd take him back with them, they had a flight booked that night anyway. The French goons however turned out to all be wanted criminals, no big offences but they were still wanted so they went to the French police. And so Klyde returned to the hotel, finally at ease with the evil man finally apprehended.

That night Ellis took them to an Italian restaurant, not sure why an Italian place considered they're in France, but nonetheless they enjoyed am expensive Italian meal of pasta and breads with a delicious chocolate dessert to finish. Then Maddy dragged Klyde off to a giant ferris wheel, he was not expecting this but went with it, it was only the two of them, Ellis and Lila had gone back to the hotel. They got in one of the booths (or whatever they're called) and began the slow ascent. "It's so beautiful up here." "Yeah." "I'm so glad you caught him Klyde, we can finally relax." She leaned onto his shoulder as fireworks began exploding with colour in the sky. The ferris wheel stopped as they reached the top. The night was beautiful. Klyde had earlier received a message saying his family was showing signs of waking up. Things were finally looking up for him, he didn't get his hopes too high though, anything could happen. But he did however, put everything aside, and enjoyed the moment, every second of it. The wheel continued and finally it came time for them to hop off. After that they went back to the hotel and went to bed.

The next day came and they all just chilled in the hotel. They felt it was best to have a stay-in-one-place type day. They all sat together and watched TV. Lila had fallen asleep on Klyde's lap and Ellis went off to get some snacks.

A few days had gone by and they enjoyed the rest of their holiday in France, but now they were to return home where Klyde's family were waiting, they had finally woken from their comas. Klyde had been on call with them that morning and they were now packing to return home. Mr Verdensel was finally in jail where he belonged. Everything was looking up for them.

That was, until they were on the flight home. One of the plane motors blew up sending the plane spiralling towards the ocean, the pilots managed to level the plane but they were still going down. Everyone put on life jackets and pulled out the inflatable life boats as the plane landed on the water. The doors popped open and the boats were deployed, 10 people per boat. Klyde took the oars for the boats and some rope, he connected all boats together as people continued to climb out of the now sinking plane. All 150 passengers as well as the 10 flight crew were now our of the plane. People were panicking but the pilots and crew were doing their best to calm them. "Take the oars, start rowing in that direction." Klyde said. "There's an island that way, we should reach it just after sundown." They did as he said despite their doubts. Food was passed around.

"Well, this certainly wasn't expected." said Maddy who sounded somewhat frustrated. "Someone sabotaged the plane, no doubt a friend of your dad." "How do you know?" "I overheard that the plane had been checked and went to maintenance before the flight, but odd for a plane that'd just been repaired and checked to malfunction." "Fair point."

Sure enough they arrived at an island not long after sundown as Klyde had said. Klyde was the first off and tied the boat to some trees to make it easier for others to get off. Klyde then called his good friend the chief and gave him their coordinates." Help will be here tomorrow morning as long as there's no delays, let's ration our food to last everyone till then, and be prepared to hold out for longer if there are delays." A random passenger replied, "what do you mean delays?" "Storms, hurricanes, dangerous wave levels." "That's absurd." "Just saying to be ready."

The four of them, Klyde, Maddy, Ellis and Lila, stayed separated from the rest of the group to avoid unwanted attention, two of them were famous after all. They could hear the flight attendants and pilots telling passengers to reserve their device batteries and what-not. Klyde didn't need to worry about that because his phone had a long life batter that could last up to a week without recharging. He also had a battery pack in his bag which he smartly brought with him out of the plane.

The next morning came and, as Klyde had suspected, a massive storm had struck not too far out, making it impossible for help to come. Alot of the passengers were angry, a few even lashed out, but they were handled by the crew. "By the sounds of it this storm will be in the way till tomorrow afternoon." "What are we supposed to do till then?" Daid the co-pilot. "Not starve for one, and not attack eachother preferably."

Klyde ended up going for a walk and discovered that the plane had washed into the shallows. He took the opportunity to unload all the luggage, knowing the tide would soon pull it back into the ocean. He also unloaded the food that had been left behind. And took what electronics he could from the plane. He then went and, one small group at a time, took the passengers to collect their luggage. Despite it all having been soaked, most of the people were grateful. Those few who weren't just took their items begrudgingly then went and sat alone, mumbling to themselves.

The storm finally passed the next day as Klyde predicted and help arrived, everyone was loaded onto a ship and taken to their destination. They felt sweet relief returning home, the four of them were greeted at the docks by Klyde's parents and brother. The police chief had led the rescue party. They all finally felt some peace. They had to find a bigger house due to the fact that the one Klyde, Maddy and Ellis had been living in was only made for three, certainly wouldn't fit seven now would it. With Mr Verdensel now imprisoned finally, they could return to their actual house rather than the temporary accommodation. Klyde's family admired the giant modern monstrosity of a house while Klyde went to the kitchen and started sorting dinner. "Klyde you don't have to do that, you've worked hard enough, you should let someone else cook." Maddy said standing in the kitchen entryway. "It's all good, I like cooking." Klyde's parents then walked in "We agree with her, you've been through alot these past few days, you should let us do the work." "Guys it's fine, I'm almost done anyway." "Alright, but we're doing the cleaning."
