Chapter 9 - Trip

It was now the first day of a two week holiday, the four of them had nothing to do. Until the cheif of police called. "Hello?" "Hello Klyde, we found him, well sort of, he somehow managed to leave the country, he was spotted on a flight to france." "Oh?" "We can't reach him and French police have denied our request to have him arrested." "So let me guess, you want me to go after him.?" "We've already gotten approval from the government, all you need to do is say yes and the rest will be sorted for you." "Deal." "Thank you."

"Looks like we have a holiday plan." Klyde said with a smirk. Maddy laughed a little. "Let's get packing then." The chief dropped plane tickets for that afternoon off. They packed quickly and were on their way by 2pm.

They arrived and went through the checkpoints, turns out the chief booked them for a luxury flight (first class), Maddy was very excited. "How are you not excited about this? We're going to france in first class!" "I am excited." "You look the same as you always do though.?" "My excitement is internal." "You two are hilariously adorable." Maddy's mother cut in. "What? Mom!" And that is how their holiday/mission began.

They arrived in Paris in the afternoon signed in to a big fancy hotel and settled in for the night. "This place looks amazing!" Klyde nodded in agreement as he looked out the window at the view of the city. "So this is what it's like to be rich, cosy." he thought to himself. Maddy then came out of nowhere and hugged him, "I'm so glad I could do this with you Klyde." "Me too." They stood silently, hugging as they looked out at the beautiful city lights, cars zooming by, the Eiffel tower glowing in the setting sun. Klyde's little sister Lila and Maddy's mum Ellis had already gone to bed. The two of them ended up falling asleep on the couch, they awoke to room service at eight o'clock in the morning. Maddy answered the door, the boy at the door looked their age, maybe a little older. "Hello?" "Hi I'm Harold, I work in room service, I've come to ask what you would all like for breakfast?" "Do you guys do pancakes?" "Yes we do ma'am." "We'll take three adult plates and one children's plate." "It'll be up in thirty minutes." "Thank you Henry." And off he went.

Lila was up and running around giggling while Klyde chased her, pretending he couldn't catch her. Maddy watched the two siblings as they played, she wondered what it was like having a sibling. "Tag." Klyde caught her off guard. "What?" "You're it, you have to tag one of us." he laughed, she'd never heard him laugh. She then chased the two of them around the room. "I'm not sure that's a safe practise within an expensive hotel children." Ellis had entered the room. Hair frizzled from her long sleep. "You guys might break something." "Don't worry mum we're being careful." She laughed then allowed them to continue.

Thirty minutes had gone by and Harold came back with a trolley with pancakes and a sort of make-your-own hot drink station. Coffee, hot chocolate or a variety of teas. They wall went for hot chocolate. They thanked Harold and Klyde gave him a warning glance after noticing him eyeing Maddy up. "Anything else I can help you all with?" "No we're good." Said Klyde, dismissing him. Then pulled out his laptop and got to work, accessing street cameras, security cameras and purchase histories.

"Klyyyyde!" "Hm?" "You aren't planning to sit there hunting for him the whole time are you?" "That's kinda why we came here in the first place." "But that's boring!" He sighs. "So what are you wanting to do?" She started giggling and dragged all of them out the door. They arrived at the Eiffel tower. "I'm Maddy, you have to prebook to get in." "Watch this, excuse me, we'd like four tickets to explore the Eiffel tower, three adults and one child." "Alright, name?" "Madison Verdensel." "Ms Verdensel? Alright, pay here then follow this man to the elevator." They did as instructed. "See? Benifits of being famous." "Quit bragging." said Ellis. "Oh, sorry mum." Maddy replied with an awkward laugh.

They were taken all the way to the top. "Wow, the view is amazing!" Said Maddy. Klyde nodded and Klyde's little sister just stared in amazement. "I'm glad we agreed to this." said Ellis with a smile. Then they were taken to the highest platform they could get off at and were led down the stairs eventually, after taking photos and admiring the view. Klyde watched all the vehicles driving down the roads between buildings, looking like small toys. He wondered why Mr Verdensel would come here. Maddy grabbed his hand and dragged him down the stairs. He looked at her, she was smiling brightly, the same way she did the first time they met. He couldn't help but return a slight smile.

After their tour of the Eiffel tower they went and got lunch from a nice looking French Cafe. Well made salad sandwiches, French toast with maple syrup and hot chocolates. They all sat silently, enjoying the meal. Once they were finished they went for a walk through the French markets. Buying some souvenirs and things. Before heading back to their hotel for the night.

"That was amazing!" Maddy stated to Klyde as they settled into bed. "Yeah, it was nice." The two of them both looked tired and fell asleep quickly. Klyde was woken abruptly by the door quietly creaking. "Didn't we lock that?" he thought. He went out and there, sneaking towards the bedroom was Harold, with a lock-pick and camera in hand. "Uh oh." was all he said before charging at Klyde. "Wrong move Harold." Klyde caught him and flipped him onto the floor, winding him. The thud woke the others and they came into the room. "What's going on Klyde?" said Maddy sleepily, "why do you have Harold pinned to the floor? Wait, why's he even in here?" "He was trying to take photos of us while we slept." "HAH! Us? You mean her! It isn't every day a gorgeous famous person walks in here. One close to my age no less!" "PERVERT!" She picked up a random box from somewhere and threw it directly into his face.

Harold lost his job from that when morning came, and the owners apologised profusely and made a tonne of offers, free rides, free food, 25% refund, gift vouchers for fancy shops. Klyde told them that it was all good. But Maddy jumped in and said they'd take the vouchers. "typical" Klyde thought, he couldn't help but laugh a little. They gave them a hundred fifty dollar voucher to some fancy store that sold clothes, jewellery, footwear and accessories. Maddy took them straight there, they ended up spending the whole day there used up the voucher and spent quite a bit of their own cash as well. Shopping took alot out of the four of them so they went straight back to the hotel, ate dinner and went to bed.

Klyde couldn't sleep, he wasn't sure why, so he went to his laptop and continued his investigations.
