Chapter 19

Rue POV

We had a blast, and when we came back home, my parents got their own place. They announced that they were expecting, both JJ and I passed out cold from the shock. It is not like we don't want another sibling, It is just that a surprise that we are going to be older siblings. Leslie slapped us both awake, and scolded us for being drama queens. Dad was smiling, which scared us, he rarely smiles. When he smiles, he looks psychotic. Mom thinks his smiling face is hot, for some reason. Mom once told us that Dad immediately tried to calculate how to save money after finding out that she was pregnant. He literally tried to figure out which one of us would be able to go to college out of their college. Dad prayed for us to be smart enough to go to college.

Leslie also announced that she was pregnant, which made JJ pass out again, while we hugged each other in excitement. Dad threw water on JJ's face, and said, "Boy, get your ass up!" he ordered as he gave JJ a light kick in the ass. Dad was getting annoyed that JJ kept fainting. Mom smacked Dad in the back of his head, and scolded him. Grandma scolded Dad for being mean, and Granddad helped JJ up. We went out to eat to celebrate our newfound happiness. JJ was sweating and shaking. He wants to be a dad, but he is afraid of being a bad father. Dad isn't perfect, but he is an okay dad. JJ will make a wonderful dad, he is already a wonderful son, husband, grandson, brother, brother-in-law, and twin. Mom and Grandma were already on their smartphones, looking for baby items on sale.

2 Weeks Later

Joshua and I are cleaning the house when we heard a knock at the door. Who is coming to visit us at noon?, I thought to myself. I went over to the door, and answered it. I looked down to see a 4'11 (149.86 cm)young woman and an eerily familiar little boy who looks like he is four-years-old in her arms. They are both werewolves, and smelled similar to each other. "Is he really dead? Is Nathan really dead?", the she-wolf asked. The woman looked like a 20-year-old who had been through hell on the streets. Her ragged clothes screams homeless and worn. "Who are you?" I asked. The boy looked at me with curiosity. "I am Rebecca, and this is my son, Michael," answered Rebecca. I knew the boy looked familiar, I came to the realization that Michael is allegedly Nathan's child. Oh boy, this is not good! Rebecca's skin is so pale, she looked like she has been hiding in a basement for years. Her yellow hair looked lifeless. I can she that she was once beautiful, but she looked drained, like she hasn't slept in months. Her big doe eyes looked like they lost all hope. Poor thing was acting like a skittish mouse ready to bolt. Joshua appeared behind me, sighing like a child having to do the same chores every day, by themselves.

30 minutes later

I cooked Rebecca and Michael some lunch, after they both took a shower. Their clothes are in the washer, and they are wearing my clothes. Joshua called my parents and my grandfather, and told them what happened. He did not approve of my hospitality. "She is really picking up strays," he mumbled loudly. I shooed him away, making him put the clothes in the dryer. My Southern boy think that two people of color, being alone with a white woman and her small child, is a horrible idea. Grandma has a vacant waitress job and clean spare rooms waiting for Rebecca and Michael. Michael is in fair condition, while Rebecca looked malnourished. It seems like Rebecca has been giving him her portions of food over the years. She is very protective over Michael, like we were going to snatch him away from her. Rebecca told us her tragic story, and it was so long that we all had to get snacks at her request. She grew up in the system, but ran away due to abuse. Rebecca used drugs and sold herself to survive. When she was sixteen, she met a Nathan reeling from trauma. Rebecca became his lover, and they were in a tumultuous relationship until she had enough beatings. She went into hiding, hoping Nathan would die one day. I don't care if she was at the age of consent, that is still gross.

Granddad reluctantly offered her the waitress job, and a temporary place to live as long as she follows some rules. Rule number one, the boy is your responsibility, he is not ours. Rule number one in a half, you must work and get a GED. Education, work, and your child are your priority. Rule three, you will be staying in our house temporarily, out of the goodness of our hearts. Rule four, do not fuck with us. Rule number four, do not fuck with us. Fifth rule, do not bite the very hand that feeds you. Biting the very hand that feeds you will have only you kicked out. Sixth rule, you will clean up behind yourself at all times. Seventh rule, disrespect us, and only you will be kicked out. Eighth rule, until the boy is at the age where he can feed and bathe himself, going out with girlfriends will be on the back burner. Ninth rule, dating will be on the back burner. Tenth rule, you are going cold turkey. We will break your fingers ourselves. Second attempt at failing to go cold turkey, will result in Michael being the ward of the state, and you arrested for negligence.

Michael was also given some rules. The first rule is, you will be a good boy. Second rule, you will clean up behind yourself. Third rule, you will go to school, and you are expected good behavior and grades. Fourth rule, you will be kind and courteous towards people. Fifth rule, you will not talk to strangers. Sixth rule, you will not go outside without our permission. Seventh rule, don't touch anything you are not supposed to.
