MY LORD’S CRAP

"Strong my ass, fearsome you said, couldn't even kill me once." Mahon strolled through the grounds of Sparta, its powerful warriors forming a path, their tanned and oiled skin glinting like their helmets.

"Well, I'm impressed… You know I could use someone like you in my army."

"I only have one lord."

"Who? I will buy you."

"You're about 8000 years too late, I'll take my payment now."

A man who had been standing at Menelaus' side stood in front, his bulging figure bursting through the golden plate cast over his torso. The red mane pushed out of his helmet blocked the sun, plunging Mahon's face into darkness.

"YOU DARE TO REFUSE THE MIGHTY SPARTAN ARMY? WE ARE THE GREATEST WARRIORS ALIVE!"

Mahon pushed forward, his chest puffed. His hands clenched into fists, the pale skin turning yellow as his Golden eyes glowed.

"YOU COULD NOT EVEN COMPARE TO MY LORD'S CRAP!!!! YOU ARE NOTHING!! Nothing but…" Mahon let out a sigh, his body relaxing. "What does it matter anyway, thank you for the business."

Again walking off into the distance, but this time a huge hand wrapped around his shoulder. Mahon looked back, fury rampaging through his face, to see Menelaus.

"Whilst you may not join my army, There is a war coming. And I ask for your assistance,"

"You have plenty of men,"

"But you could kill every one of them."

"You overestimate me… fine I'm a mercenary after all,"

The sun set over the bay, its sparkling water dissipating from the blazing orange glow, its pink sky rippling off into the turquoise waters. Cel's eyes also mirrored the sky, its dazzling colours bouncing through them.

"So you're going to war?"

"I suppose, why not?"

"Death, oh right…"

"Yeah, not much to do. It's been a few hundred years, bounty hunting is fun and all, but it's been a while since I had a good war."

"You're insane,"

"Probably, but who isn't?"

"Me of course,"

"Naturally, you only kicked someone through a fire and onto a pirate ship."

"If you don't want to be kicked through fires, don't say you're immortal."

The two laughed, the empty, silent night echoed the still silent sea. The wine bounced from rim to rim, the purple liquid growing black as the sun disappeared.

"I'll come with you, You need a ship to get to Troy, right?"

"What?"

"Well, it's only fair that the greatest warrior should have the greatest captain."

"I suppose… but why would you risk death?"

"If people are going to recognize my skills, then I should at least have a war or two under my belt."

"Then I will serve under you, I'm sure my lord would make an exception."

Mahon's eyes sparkled under the crowded sky, he let out a sigh staring at the sky.

"You look… sad."

"No, I just remembered an old friend… it's been too long since I saw him."

Mahon's eyes opened as her lips pressed into his cheek, the small kiss rippling through his veins and sending a flood of emotion through his skin.

"Wha…"

"Maybe when I'm gone you'll remember me with those eyes too."

Cel stood up, her feet pattering against the stone harbour, slowly fading out as Mahon sat stunned.
