Chapter 24

On getting to the main entrance door to the cinema, I didn't know how Ken overtook me. All I saw was that his hand was already on Aunty Sandra's shoulder. Even in public like this they still wish to showcase their love. Already Sandra had introduced Ken to me. Seeing them in such a romantic way shouldn't be a surprise to me. But Why can't adults like them make it only an indoor something? They didn't even bother about the number of people moving to and fro the hall. Something still bothered me because I don't know how they'll display such while still entering the main place, what would happen if the movie start?

.... Aunty Sandra, I guess I'll seat on the other row.

I used an appealing tone to make my request

Why Jessy, why won't we be together? Sandra asked though not in a harsh voice. But in all sincerity she was serious

Won't it be better, to let her seat wherever she wants? I heard Ken say as he brought down his hand from Sandra's shoulder.

Well, Jessy doesn't seat far from me. Be careful. Mind who you talk to and what you say. And don't sleep, please. Unless you'll give me your handset. Sandra agreed with Ken just to make me happy and already to have time for Ken.

Thank you, aunty. I won't sleep.

I moved to the back seat. I gave two rows of space from them and then found vacant seats. Before the movie starts, people already occupied the whole seats. By my power were a girl and a pony on my left side.

A few seconds later, the light went off and it was total darkness. Jessy knew not what was happening. I reached out to my phone and turned on the Torchlight. The girl by my right-hand side held my hand down. Jokingly she turned off the light. Already people were mumbling. Within a twinkle of an eye, they started displaying adverts on the screen and everywhere lit up again. Though not that sharp I could see the face of the person seating next to me. I confidently asked the lady why held down my hand and even turned off my light.

.... That's how it always happens and people don't turn on the light because everyone knows, in seconds, the light must be restored. And it also means the movie would start shortly. I heard her explain to me.

I buried my head in shame. I needed not to tell anyone but they've known that was my first time. Boldness disappeared from me. Though I knew I fucked up, I just kept mute and allowed the moment to pass. Soon I concentrated on my popcorn. Truly I wasn't much interested in whatever they were displaying on the screen. I just wanted the moment to pass so we'll go home.

There came a moment when everywhere got quiet. Seems the movie caught everyone's attention. The sitting next to me already got emotional. She was almost shedding tears. I didn't know what was happening then. But everywhere was just quiet. I had to focus on the movie. In some seconds, the boy sitting beside me started drawing himself closer to me. I noticed his shoulder was brushing mine. I adjusted to make him relax but he still moved closer to me. I don't know what he was up to. I just made sure I had my handset in my palm. In a short while, I noticed his hand on my shoulder. What could this mean? I turned to look at him but he focused on the screen as if he didn't know what he was doing. I later noticed his other hand on my lap. I then removed his hand forcefully. Just when I wanted to concentrate on the movie, he started his problem. The lady seating by my side noticed what happened. I pleaded with her then we exchanged seats.

Not quite long, the movie ended. I do know not whether it's the movie that sparked the discussion but everywhere was noisy. I hurried up to meet with Sandra and Ken. They didn't want the movie to end then. Though people were already exiting the place, they were still seating comfortably. It got me confused that I questioned her whether we were staying for more but they said we'll be going home.

On our way home, Ken drove to an eatery. We all ate at the same table. They were excited. Their happiness was visible on my Aunty's face. She had a smile on her face almost throughout the moment we were eating the meal. After the meal, Aunty Sandra announced that she'll be traveling in less than a week. And that's the one she may be spending up to a month. I wasn't happy hearing that. Just when we started having fun, when the house started getting sweeter, she wants to travel. How will I cope with staying alone? I already had the phone, but will the phone create memories like today for me? Because I knew my opinion won't make any change, I obliged and requested that she give me some contacts I found important to me.

We then left the eatery and went home.

I narrated what happened to Sandra who initially was smiling but got a get when I told her about what the boy did.

....Why didn't you tell me, Jessy? That's abuse!

Aunty, I left the seat for him, and that was the end

Sorry. Don't just keep quiet if such a thing repeats itself. That's why I wanted you to seat closer to me.

Don't worry aunty. It won't repeat itself

.... I assured her then she left me in the pallor and got inside the bedroom.
