To express my feelings about how unsafe I felt, I turned to Jeff
... Bro, I don't think I'm safe here. How do you think we'll stay with these kinda people for more than an hour without falling into trouble? Why must we enmesh ourselves with this set of people? Don't you think it'll be better if we take our leave?
Though I lowered my voice, I was still talking when Jeff gently used his hand to close my mouth.
Nothing will happen to anyone. Relax and be careful. They came just as we did. And it won't last forever. Just for this night. Don't be too nervous. Very soon. We'll have police officers that will safeguard here until the party will be over. And that'll make you more comfortable. ... Jeff whispered to my ears in a low and 'romantic' voice if I must confess
That will be better because here's just unsafe. I concluded then drew closer to him and rested my head on his chest. In return, he placed his hand on me making the people who doubts whether we were siblings or friends more confused.
I looked at the entrance and saw a group of three guys walking into the party hall. Among them, I found one's walking steps familiar and that made me focus on them to clear my doubt. He looked like Dave but I couldn't conclude because he's the least person I expected to see at the party
They walked closer to us and started exchanging handshakes with the boys
This is Dave, be smart. Hope you'll be more comfortable now. Jeff whispered to my ears. And that was really confirmation of what I thought.
Dave shook Jeff and opened his two hands for me to hug him. Hmm. I didn't know whether that was Jeff's plan but his words... Be smart kept echoing in my ear. I stood up and hugged him. Dave couldn't just be civil. To hug him nearly caused a problem now he's stylishly demanding a kiss not minding the number of people in there. Well, I kissed him and that was like opening a gateway to something I never expected. He carried me in his palm like a baby. The whole people in our circle screamed aloud and that drew more attention to us. I only wanted the ground to open and swallow me but it didn't just happen. Everyone was peeping to know what was happening. My brother Jeff was just smiling. I can't tell whether it was a mere smirk or really from his heart since he never approved of my relationship with Dave. I could see some people videoing us with their handsets. I never imagined such. I felt all eyes were on me. I tapped Dave's back continuously until he dropped me.
Dave came and sat next to me. Some people were mumbling while others just continued with what they were doing.
In a short while, the officiating master of the ceremony announced that everywhere should be calm since the chief host of the party would be with us shortly. The whole light in the party hall went off and in seconds the light was restored. Someone had to witness the noise from the hall. I could see a young boy, a girl of my age, and hefty men on the stage. We were all standing as the boy introduced himself as Hassan. And also welcomed us all to his birthday party. He pleaded that everyone should behave him/herself. Then promised that the party would be great. We all welcomed him as an artist came and led a birthday some for him then everyone joined.
An artist was displaying his talent on the stage while two hefty men were walking around the party hall.
Fuck up!! what's happening to me, this can not be true. I talked to myself as I started seeing one of the men just like Sam. Could this be true or my eyes are failing me? Let this just end as a dream and not reality. He walked closer to us and Sam was the one. I hid my face not allowing him to see me. He walked closer and closer. I noticed he focused on me. Could it be that he'd known that I'm the one or he was still guessing? I refused to look up. He walked closer to Nathan and greeted him. Both of them exchanged a handshake then he walked away. I texted Jeff.
Bro, that's Sam, the one we met at Sandra's wedding. I guess it'll be better for me to leave here.
That will be better but let's not make it too suspicious. Let's wait for some time.
He replied
There's no time. He's a criminal and would do anything to make way for himself.
I texted him back
then he replied..... Wait a minute
A few seconds later, Nathan left us there and walked through the exit door and that's exactly the route Sam followed
I noticed I was shivering and restless. Jeff walked closer to where I was sitting with Dave. He tapped Dave and told him to follow him. Both of them stood up and walked to a corner.
