Chapter 50

Good evening Uncle Jimmy! I greeted uncle Jimmy who just came back from the office. On his face, one could easily see "danger"

Good evening Jessy. Trust you're fine? He answered, with "a strange man's voice"

Sir, I can't tell. I've been waiting for you to know the update but you neither answered my calls nor called me back.,...

I emptied my mind to him so he'll know exactly how I felt.

It's okay Jessy. Everything is fine. Don't consider my mood, please. It's personal stuff. Jimmy replied trying to feign a smile...

Okay, sir. Freshen up so you'll eat your dinner and rest. Maybe when you're relieved, we can talk about Dave's case.

Yeah, Jessy. don't bother yourself. Everything is fine.

He couldn't even wait to hear my response before he walked into his room. I needed no other proof to know that all wasn't well. How could Jimmy, someone that used to be jovial make such a face and say that all was well? Someone that never bothered his family with anything concerning his office would just come home with such anxiety and tell me that all was fine. It can't just be possible. I didn't know what exactly I should imagine. Could it be that Dave is dead? Or could it be that Dave is not in Sam's custody? Or could it be that Sam was still winning the case? "God forbid!! May such never happen again in my lifetime"

I was really troubled. I got into the kitchen to dish dinner for the whole family expecting that we'll eat together as usual. I waited for him for more than an hour but he didn't show up in the dining room. Since I started living in his house, the room that I never entered was his. And I couldn't just enter his room that evening knowing the mood with which he got home that evening. That added to my fear that night. Both Jeff and Derrick were already in their rooms. I began to contemplate whether they already had their dinner. Meeting anyone of them in their rooms would be a disturbance to them. I continued sitting on the couch in the sitting room until I fell asleep

Derrick woke me up when they finally got ready for dinner. All of them already circled the dining table when he woke me up. I washed my face and joined them. After the meal. Uncle Jimmy made it open to me that Sam has run out of the country since he was declared wanted. They search his house everywhere they expected to see him but couldn't find him. They dialed all his contacts but none could connect. It was when they tracked his movement then they noticed he already flew out of the country. When I inquired about Dave, He said that he was still alive but with Sam's accomplice. He even cautioned me to always remain indoors and be mindful of who I may disclose my location.

The news broke my heart. How could Sam play such games on me after all he's done in the past? What exactly does he want from me? Truly my mood wasn't good throughout the day but the news weighed me down the more.

I left everyone in the dining room and entered my room with anger. Nothing seemed like a solution to me. All I wanted to hear was that Dave has been freed. The only person I wanted to see was Dave. If anyone could tell me any cock and bull story, let it be that Sam was dead and not that he left the country. How could I defend myself before Dave or even his friends? How could such a young man pass through such pain just because of me? Truly love has disappointed him. He wished for roses but now saw mushrooms of different unpleasant aromas. I picked up my phone and called back his friend to tell them what was happening. As we were discussing, they said they already did an underground search about the so-called Sam and noticed that his daughter was schooling in one of the secondary schools not far from where one of the boys worked. They suggested whether to go after his family since he want to play hide and seek. I agreed with them as that was the easy means to get his attention. They agreed to get the girl after dismissal since the road used to be busier in the morning. I asked whether I could contribute by any means but they told me not to worry. We asked about where to keep the girl but they insisted that I shouldn't bother. Mine was whatever we may do to make sure Dave regains his freedom. Since they didn't request any ransom I guess violence would be the best solution to tackle them with.
