This might become a hassle if...

Liam had been practicing the breathing he had started to learn while Pollen gave him assignments. The air and the scent in it began to churn and twist. Anticipation and greed could be felt in that thick sweaty smell.

Like a sudden downpour of rain, around twenty people dropped. Some seemed to be sprouting from the ground or walls like flowers after the first spring rain.

Yong-Sun was strapped to his back as he took some measures to tie him in.

The men and a few women were cheering like they already had what they wanted. They didn't even think that someone might resist this many people.

A man stepped forward. His hair is tied at the back of his head. There was a rag tied to his face. Only his eyes were visible. Well, in this case, one was visible. The other side of his face had a massive claw mark on it, which had probably killed that side's eye.

Contrary to the people who have thus far met him, this bunch thought him to be nobody. He had been flaunting his money way too much, and the info they got from the guards made them believe he was just that, an average human with no connections.

That was why they had the guts to attack him.

The man had been standing there, doing nothing. They couldn't see his face, but they were sure that he was wetting his pants by now.

Yet, one man who was a long-range attacker with a bow saw something different. He had excellent eyesight, especially if he needed to take care of the target from a distance. He wasn't given orders this time. He had just come to watch. He didn't like this, but this was the only way to get out of slavery. And targets rarely appeared in this place.

That man, with a bow, started to back off at that moment. He didn't know what it was, but he knew he would get injured or die if he stayed. So he left just a moment before everything started, thus being one of the few people that didn't get beaten.

"Give us everything you have!" the man who had covered his face but would have been recognized either way said.

"No," Liam answered calmly.

"What?" the man didn't even think that someone would refuse in the face of twenty gang members.

"I said no, I won't give you anything," he repeated calmly and started to walk away from the man.

"Where the fuck do you think you're going?"

"To the inn, of course. It seems I need to wash up," Liam said and walked forward with the child wrapped to his back.

The man had enough and grabbed him from the shoulder. Well, he tried. Liam evaded it seamlessly, walking forward. "Get him," the Scarface yelled, and all the others moved by his order. Everybody attacked, tried to capture him or take something from his body.

None so far could touch him or the clothes he was wearing. He evaded every reaching or grabbing hand. None tried to attack him yet. Just to rob and, if possible, sell him as an enslaved person, giving some of them a chance at freedom.

That was also why Yong-Sun didn't run away. His best chance at freedom was with Liam.

If only they knew the disrespect he was giving them. But unfortunately, his eyes were still closed.

To the Scarface, it looked like the hooded man just walked by his people.

"What the fuck are you doing? Why are you letting him pass by? Grab him properly!" he yelled, giving orders.

The people were already frustrated, and now when their leader yelled, that frustration turned into anger, and they doubled their efforts and started to attack the hooded man.

A few of them pulled out their weapons and slashed at him.

At that moment, Liam opened his eyes and grabbed the first attacker's knife hand, jabbing his other fist into his throat, crushing his trachea as he suddenly couldn't breathe. He falls down without a knife, trying to find a way to live, only to die as the struggle with two other people intensifies.

"Thanks for this, it looks like crap, but it should be useful in this situation."

No one saw what happened, only the conclusion and the man falling to the ground. They thought that he had just passed out.

Another attacker arrived just a moment later. Liam grabbed the knife and turned it, throwing it at another attacker at the far end of the alleyway. The person failed to notice the blade and evade, dying when the blade quickly cut through the man's neck slicing open an artery. He bled out in a moment.

Most people's attention was on the hooded man and not the gang members. No one even noticed that the two guys had died moments after the fight had started.

The gang continued their attack.

On the other hand, Liam sighed as he saw how the blade had moved wrongly. He didn't intend to kill the man. Instead, the blade's edge was supposed to cut his arm, just enough to keep the man away. And the punch he had thrown at the other guy, he had underestimated his own strength.

Liam didn't want to bully them, but they were asking for a lesson, and he deemed himself a teacher in this case. He didn't mind teaching them a lesson, but he was regretful of the two who had died.

After that, he constricted his moves to open hands, like slaps.

Two arrived too close this time. One was heaving a heavy bat, and the other was swinging a chain, preparing to throw it at Liam's legs, trying to constrict his movements. But Liam seemed to have other ideas.

He jumped just barely and landed on the chain, grabbing hold of it and pulling it toward himself. Pulling the man forward made him stumble and lose focus. On the other hand, Liam was busy as the guy with a bat came swinging. Hastily, Liam wrapped the chain around his forearm and lifted it enough to block the heavy impact.

Liam didn't know, but he assumed the bat was old when it turned into splinters at the impact. Liam took advantage of the distraction and pushed the man away from him. He flew several meters back, colliding with the wall, knocking him unconscious. Liam looked back and saw the other man pulling something out of his leg as it looked like several splinters had lodged in his body.

Another man assaulted him then, but he felt like this was just a distraction. Still, they exchanged a few blows before he thought someone was entering his personal space.

He was perceptive that way, especially in battle. He twisted mid-slap and turned toward a woman who was trying to snatch the kid from his back. Then, without thinking, he slapped her away from him. He was getting a bit annoyed by all the hassle.

The woman flew away, losing consciousness as she hit the wall. The man was kicked in the knee, the leg turning backward. He screamed in pain.

Liam walked past him and greeted another set of gangsters. Three of them this time. Two of them looked like dagger users, and Liam determined that he was a gauntlet user with a glance at his fists. The two also seemed to be twins as they moved well together.

'This might become a hassle if I let this go on any longer,' Liam thought as he looked at the new people, who this time looked like they knew what they were going to do.
