"What have you decided after leaving here Mr Onana, have you decided where to go ?" Mr Myers asked, cutting short their discussion. making them jump, the whole class turned and looked at him.

"The Imperium Academy" He truthfully answered and several people gasped.

"Oh so you are a selected ?" Asked Mr Myers trying to suppress his surprise. Being selected was a term used for people like him.

Brian understood why they were all surprised, the chances of somebody being a selected were of the order of 1 in a million and this depended on the genetic ranking.

The genetic ranking of humans was on a scale of 0 to 10.

99.9% of humans were scaled between 0 and 2, people who had a rank of 4 and above were considered "selected"

Having 2 in the same class, that is Raïssa and him, was statically a very rare occurrence, the chances of this were probably 1 in a billion.

Having the genetic constituent to be a selected was entirely a random event for first generations, like his classmate Raïssa and that's why the term used for such individuals was "selected" . A group of religious lunatics even developed an entire religion to glorify them, considering them envoys of gods or angels.

For the children of selectees like him, the probability of them having this genetic constituent increased by 50%. Nobody knew how and why, it came about suddenly and they weren't studies on the question, at least not one they were aware of at their level.

People couldn't help but envy or become jealous, because being selected you had a high chance of becoming an Elemental. This depended on another criteria based on genetic ranking and this criteria was a simple one. Your genetic ranking should be greater than 5, he fulfilled this condition but Raïssa didn't.

Still, being a selected made you at the very least a high human. They were mostly working under the Central authority enforcing law and order throughout their controlled territories as high ranking officers.

"Yes I am sir" He replied. He became a little bit uncomfortable with the way people were goggling at him and avoided their gaze.

"That's good, and for the rest of you there isn't anything to say anymore, you've all received your grades and the different possibilities available" Mr Myers said. Noticing that they were still glaring at Brian, he added "No point in envying, his path will probably be the most dangerous one out of all of you."

2 hours later, Brian was enjoying a small drink in the cafeteria filled with students happy and giving their farewell to each other when he was joined by Raïssa.

"Okay so how are we going to go about this ?" He asked.

"I gave you the whole course of action, didn't you read ?" She replied.

"I did, but I want you to tell me again. Who will be with us ? Because we can't do it just the two of us obviously, and this isn't like what we used to do." He told her while sipping his juice.

"For someone who is so worried about his daily time expenditures, you are quite blasé spending it without care like this" She told him.

"I didn't drink this morning, water shortage at my place, also this drink is just 13 minutes. And please stop turning around, answer my question first" He said.

She made a hand gesture to no one in particular and at once, a server drone flew to their table ready to take her command.

"Give me the same thing as him" she said to the drone, placing her Timer hand onto the payment zone and it went to get her command.

"Thomas and Bob are coming with us, they're preparing what we need right now and will wait for us at the surface when you are ready." She said, while the drone came back with her command and left.

She continued "I'll give one last briefing when we are with them." and she started enjoying her drink.

Looking absentmindedly at her, He spoke "What did you mean earlier about giving up going to the Imperium academy? I know there are many places where you could activate your high human status, but there you can also learn how to wield your body"

"First of all They are not the best for high humans. Secondly, I never really wanted to be near those high born who have everything come to them, we don't live in the same world and besides I failed already. The experience was traumatizing for me, I am a sensitive young lady"

Brian rolled his eyes at her "Yeah true, it's mostly for elementals. You never know, the selection this year might be easy" He said while standing up "Let's move then.

They both left and 10 minutes later were inside a taxi speeding up to the surface. It was only natural light that made them realized they left the underground.

"Reduce the light coming in by 20%, I haven't been out here for long and the light nearly blinded me" He urged to the AI. Neon lights and all artificial lights could never replace the natural sunlight.

"You should implant enhanced eyes pupils, they would've adjusted light automatically. Anyway, we're almost there already" Raïssa told him with her eyes focused outside of her window, looking at the never ending activity outside.

The taxi landed near a big warehouse and left immediately when they paid, they immediately noticed 2 people waiting.
