Chapter 11

After sending the project proposal for the fourth time, Chi Jiajia couldn't help but fold her hands and pray.

"Oh mighty God, Jesus, Budha… please bless me this time!"

Then in the next second, an "ok" word bounced together with a "whoosh" sound.

Ok?

She threw herself in front of the computer screen, staring at the dialog box blankly.

That's right, "OK"!

Fuck it, it's done!

The proposal is approved!

A group of colleagues who heard the news expressed their disbelief.

"Chi Jiajia, you are very promising. You can even handle the First Seven!"

The leader of Party A in this cooperation was an old customer and was well-known in the industry for being demanding and nitpicking.

As long as the proposal hadn't had more than seven revisions, it wouldn't be approved. So, everyone secretly called him "the first seven" whose name could make one tremble.

But for such a nuisance, the reward was also worth it. At least the one who worked with him never complained about the amount of compensation.

In a nutshell, the gain was worth the pain.

The 30-year-old team leader came over with a thermos cup holding his cervical vertebrae and blew the wolfberry floating on it before asking, "I remember you only revised it a few times, right?"

Chi Jiajia raised her finger proudly, "Four times!"

The crowd gave a neat wow.

Chi Jiajia looked up at the sky and laughed.

When she ate dinner yesterday, she thought she could do it this time, but she didn't expect that her dream would come true.

Well, it must be the power given by food!

The team leader looked at his watch and said, "Okay, you have nothing to do today. There is still half an hour. You are allowed to leave work early."

Chi Jiajia cheered, hurriedly packed up her things, and went back home.

The subway during non-peak commuting hours was empty. Chi Jiajia, who had not seen such a scene for a long time, couldn't help shedding tears of joy.

Her legs didn't need to wobble from standing straight along the way, and there was no need to choke from the smelly sour odour of bodies full of sweat again.

After leaving the subway station, Chi Jiajia went straight to Yan Bao Restaurant, but just as she was about to enter, she was attracted by the fishbowl under the eaves.

The shape was quite simple and ordinary, um... a bit like the big pickle jar at grandma's house.

In the crystal-clear water, a large orange-red tailed goldfish was swimming. When it saw someone coming, it slid into the rockery cave, leaving only a gauze-like tail fin floating up and down in the water.

Chi Jiajia took out a coin and threw it in, clasped her hands together and muttered softly.

"Please, bless me for a smooth future, and then get a promotion and a salary increase."

When she opened her eyes, suddenly there was a little girl in front of her.

Baobao blinked her black round eyes.

"Sister, what are you doing?"

When she tilted her head, the pigtails in her hair also swayed.

Chi Jiajia replied vaguely, "Make a wish!"

Baobao sighed as if she didn't understand.

After a pause, she asked curiously, "Why make a wish on Little Fish?"

"Uh..." Chi Jiajia didn't know how to answer.

How could she explain this?

"By the way, where did this goldfish come from?"

When a child asked you a question but you couldn't answer, changing the subject was the best solution. Such was Chi Jiajia's wisdom.

Baobao was successfully distracted. She turned her head and pointed to the supermarket next door. "Aunt Zhao gave me."

Aunt Zhao was the type of person who had a lot of spare time.

Yesterday, when she went to the pet shop, she bought a few goldfish on impulse. When she came back, she noticed that Baobao really liked it, so she gave one to the little girl.

According to the pet shop's employee, it was a newly cultivated variety. It actually had no redeeming characteristics other than a thicker and stronger scale.

A gust of wind blew, carrying the unique fresh earthy fragrance after the rain mixed with an intoxicating fragrance.

Chi Jiajia took a deep breath, showing a delightful expression, "What are the dinners today?"

When it came to food, Baobao suddenly became energetic, "Beef! And cold noodles!"

Early this morning, her aunt cooked a lot of meat, but she was not allowed to eat it at noon. Her aunt said that it was more delicious when eaten at night.

She didn't quite understand what savory was, but she firmly remembered the saying that it was best to eat at night.

Liu Yan was busy preparing the food when suddenly a voice surged into her mind.

[Weak faith power detected.]

'The power of faith?'

Although she didn't believe in religion and god, nor did she believe in superstition, she quickly read between the lines and had a vague understanding of what the system meant.

'But what does it have to do with me?'

She was just a normal chef with a somehow bizarre voice that occasionally popped up in her mind and strange ability to taste emotion.

She was definitely not a God or a sacred being of sort.

Right?

And what kind of faith was this? Faith in food?

Liu Yan was about to ask a question when she saw Chi Jiajia pulling Baobao in.

"Boss, you are my blessing! I passed the project proposal!"

This was the first time she had been in charge of such a big plan alone. The smile on her face bloomed whenever she thought of the bonus when the project was completed.

Liu Yan was taken aback.

Faith?

Blessing?

She seemed to understand a little bit.

She had researched the "buff" that the system mentioned in the past two days and had understood that it was a special effect. The golden light was similar to a lucky blessing.

It was too mystical to gain benefits just from eating, wasn't it?

But then again, her own life experience itself was not very scientific...

"Yes," the system said cheerfully in her mind, "when a person places hope on something and then it comes true, there will be a certain power of faith being produced."

However, people in modern society didn't accept this kind of superstition very much, so Chi Jiajia's power of faith could only be regarded as "weak" for the time being.

Liu Yan thought this was a bit absurd, "Weak? How weak?"

[It's roughly equivalent to believing in Santa Claus]

To put it bluntly, even Chi Jiajia herself didn't quite believe it.

"So, what's the use of this?" Liu Yan asked curiously.

If satisfaction point could increase her life span, what about the power of faith? It sounded very powerful, so it must be better, right?

But she was bound to be disappointed.

The system voice said briskly.

[It has no effect on you for the time being!]

"..." Thank you very much.

[But it's useful for costumer]

Liu Yan's interest was piqued.

"Like what?"

[Exchange sincerity for sincerity. Sincere customers often only need the simplest way of repaying.]

"For example?"

[For example, what you want to do comes true!]

'Who doesn't want to!' Liu Yan grumbled inwardly.

The system droned on for a long time, and then Liu Yan eventually got the gist of it.

Simply put, the satisfaction point was for Liu Yan personally, but the power of faith also included the whole restaurant.

The greater the power of faith, the easier it was to get lucky buffs in the later stages, and naturally, the customer satisfaction point would also increase.

So, in the final analysis, it was still useful to Liu Yan, but in a relatively roundabout way.

Liu Yan frowned, still feeling something was off.

However, the system felt that there was nothing wrong with it.

[Why not? A chef who doesn't want to be a magician is not a good chef]

Liu Yan sneered.

This system really said a lot of nonsense.

Since she couldn't figure it out, she didn't think about it anymore.

When Chi Jiajia asked the second time, she pointed to the blackboard with the newly written recipe without saying a word.

Yes!

She found a bug in the system!

As long as she didn't take the initiative to give guidance, then she was not "deliberately troubling the customers," and naturally, she didn't have to worry about reducing the satisfaction point.

The system spoke profanity in her mind.
