Sophie woke up slowly. Her pounding head was the only thing that made her know she was still alive. Her vision was blurry at first when she started to open her eyes. But got accustomed to the dimly lit room after few minutes.
Where was she? She asked herself as she looked around. Still lying down.
Marcus's place? How's her baby? She thought placing her hand on her stomach.
Where was Marcus? She slowly tried getting up. Her headache only worsen the more. After trying her best and slowly getting up. She managed to look around. This was his bedroom, she was in his bed.
She wasn't too happy about that. Even if there was nothing she could have done to change it. He was still the father of her child. It may take him years for him to admit though.
The house was awfully quiet, was Marcus not around? This thoughts ran through her head as she got down from the bed. Still holding her pounding head in one hand.
She went down the stairs, tiptoeing and heaving a sigh of discomfort.
She prayed she wouldn't run into him. She didn't want to see him. No now, not ever. They where done and nothing was going to bring them back.
She got down the stairs, looked around to make sure no one was around. Her outfit was not made for going out, she looked down at her self. She was in Marcus's shirt. White and short. Just above her knees.
She made toward the door. Her legs tighten as she tried the door handle. But it was locked.
"Do you need anything?" She heard his voice and spun around in fear. A hand placed on her fast beating chest.
"You can't scare me like that" she said clearly flushed at seeing him. "I didn't know you were around" she said and she saw him smiled a little. He came out if the kitchen, a small hand towel in his hand. And an apron tied to his front. He looked hot!
You must have become really sick. She said to herself. You mustn't think he's hot Sophie. You hate him. Don't smile back at him. All this thoughts ran through her, and she frowned her face.
He walked towards her and placed a hand on her forehead.
"How are you feeling?" He studied her Rosy pale cheeks.
"Am fine thank you. I want to leave, open the door?"
"Leave?" He seemed perplexed.
"Yes" she folded her arms and he smiled again.
What's so funny?! She thought.
"You can't leave...you need to rest. For you and Our Baby" he made emphasis on the 'Our baby' and Sophie almost felt a surge of joy erupt through her.
"It's my baby"
"Our baby Sophie.....see I know you're still angry with what happened, but it wasn't my fault, I just....."
"Save the story Marcus. I don't want to hear it" she told him still trying her best to look angry.
"Sophie......"
"Open your door, I want to leave"
"Am sorry but I can't let you leave, you're stuck here with me for the main time. Until everything calms down at Least"
"What! No... I want to go home, I'll go to my mother's if you want, am not going to stay here"
"Your mother's safe and your niece too, they'll be here to check on you in the evening, so you'll see them today"
She sagged against the door and sent him a chilled look.
"Was that why you locked the door. To keep me in?"
"Yeah" he said moving towards the kitchen.
"For how long have I been asleep?" She asked, following him.
"Four days"
"Four?"
"Yeah"
"You're cooking?" She asked in astonishment. Stella told her he hated cooking and didn't like getting stained. But there were omelets, some salads, grilled cheese and fried chicken. There were fruits and cooked vegetables too. She was amazed.
"Yeah....." He said quiet embarrassed and wouldn't meet her gaze.
Sophie almost smiled. But cautioned herself.
"I've been learning for the past few days, Stella has been teaching me. The doctor said you needed thorough rest. You mustn't do any stressful job or you'll loose our baby. I didn't want that to happen."
"Our baby? You never believe the baby was yours. You denied it"
"I never denied it Sophie. I just wasn't sure about it"
"You weren't sure?"
"Am sorry. But once bitten is twice shy. I couldn't risk getting hurt a second time, that's why I decided to play dumb"
"You...... But you were the only man whom I ever slept with and almost hated you!" She cried.
"Am sorry Sophie" he tried to walk toward her but she raised her hand to stop him.
"Don't come near me."
He stopped and stared at her.
She nodded her head." I've heard you but let me be. Thank God you've accepted the baby's yours but am still angry"
He nodded his head and moved away from her. She was strong witted.
"The men..... what happened to them?" She asked remembering about the incident.
"They have been taking into custody and are being interrogation. We couldn't catch my Ex or Brian"
"Your Ex wasn't there. But Brian was, He wants you dead to take over your company. But he isn't even telling your Ex the truth either"
"Uhmn...she's such a fool to trust him. Thank God I found out on time. Now I'm without a manager" he said slicing some carrots.
"Where do you think he'll be or she'll be" she said as she sat down on the stool by the counter placing her chin in her hand as she stared at him work.
"Who..... Brian and Stacy?" He said still concentrating on the carrots.
"Stacy? That's the name of your Ex?"
"Yeah.... anything the problem."
"No...no...I mean nothing really. I just have a very close friend who bears Stacy too."
"Oh"
"What a coincidence right? But my Stacy is a good hearted fellow. She's nice and gentle. She's been acting weird this days though. Barely calls me again. But I know it's because she's busy"
"Uhmn....you must really like this your friend"
"I love her"
Marcus nodded and began setting up the table.
"Would you like to have a taste?" He asked her pointing to the chicken and salad.
"I don't want this." She told him.
"What?!"
"I don't have appetite for this you prepared." I want some ice cream, burger and a glass of water" She said and smiled at him.
He dropped the knife in his hand and stared at her.
What the hell!
