Chapter fifty two
Marcus stood in anger and stared at the men harassing Sophie, his woman.
The look in her eyes made him even more angry at the men and mostly at himself. Because he knew all this was his fault.
The men turned around and stared at him too. Slurring hurtful words and meaning to fight. But Marcus wasn't here for that, Elliot could handle them all.
He watched as Elliot and Evelina both walked past him. Evelina ran towards Sophie and lifted Camille gently in her arms. Even though the little girl had came awake at the commotion.
She then took Sophie by the hand and drew her towards the jeep they'd brought.
"Move back!"Elliot warned the men. But the five of them bursted out laughing.
"What's this man saying.... get lost and let me see that pregnant slut..."
The next instant was unpredictable as Marcus moved closer to the drunk man and punched him hard in the face.
He kicked him in the stomach and the man stumbled backwards knocking off the others standing behind him and they all fell to the ground.
"Don't you ever call her a slut, or I'll remove your teeth with my fingers" Marcus warned them as he kicked at them again and they squattered sway in fear.
Marcus turned towards Elliot.
"Let's go Elliot, I'll drive."
He hadn't spoken to Sophie since he'd seen her. He was angry at her but he was glad he'd come to her rescue at the right time.
She looked Okay, thankfully, but they still have a lot of things to talk about.
He got into the car and started the engine then started to drive away from the park.
The drive home was silent. Even Camille had fallen back asleep. Sophie sat silently beside Evelina at the back seat.
Though a part of her was glad they'd come for her. She was still as angry with him as she was before. And she wasn't going to let him get away with it.
Half an hour later, Marcus drove into the front yard and parked few meters away from the door steps. They all got down and Elliot helped Sophie come down from. the car after refusing Marcus help.
Marcus smiled at her childish act. But wavered the thoughts away again and walked into the house.
After they all got into the house Sophie went into her room with Evelina and Camille who is already awake and smiling at Evelina.
"I'm glad you're back" Evelina said smiling at Sophie and tickling a giggling Cam.
Sophie only nodded and walked to the bed, slept on it and covered herself with the duvet. Meaning she wants to be alone.
"Sophie....."Evelina began but the knock sounding on the door cut off whatever she wants to say.
"Come in" Evelina answered and Marcus entered.
"Excuse us. I'll like to speak to Sophie in private"
Evelina nodded, sending a glance to the still woman lying on the bed.
She took Camille by the hand and the two of them walked out from the room.
After Evelina Left, Marcus walked over to the bed and drew the duvet down to her thighs.
Sophie drew it back without looking at him.
He drew it down again but she drew it back up again and Marcus smiled at her childish act again.
"Can you sit up? I want to speak to you" He said giving her a pleading look.
"Say whatever it is you have to say, I'm all ears." Sophie replied, not even looking up to his face.
"Am sorry about what happened the other day, it's really not my fault, I had reasons for doing that."
"Your explanation sucks"
"It wouldn't if you give me the chance to explain deeper"
"You don't need to, I don't want to hear whatever it is you have to say. You can leave now. I really want to rest"
Marcus watched her as she turned away, her back facing him.
She was one adamant woman!
Sophie felt tears threatening her eyes as her eyelids where getting wet but she didn't want him to see her tears.
She wasn't going to let him see her weak side. And he was only hurting her this way because he knew that she loves him.
Marcus sat beside the bed and turned her around to face him.
"Am sorry" He said softly as his eyes widened when he saw her tears.
"Don't cry baby....I'm sorry" He said wiping at her cheeks and placing a kiss on her forehead.
His kind words melted her heart and she broke Down in tears.
He sat her up slowly and drew her into his arms for a soft hug.
"Everything was a set up Sophie, it was all to get Stacy on our side so as to know her weaken points. How will I go back to someone who has hurt me and hurt you the most"
Sophie looked up into his clear blue eyes and saw sincerity in them. It only made her more angry at him.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked him softly between tears and he took her hands in his.
"I don't want you getting worried over nothing. For your sake and the baby's sake." He said releasing her hands and placing his on her stomach to feel the baby inside.
"I can't bear to let anything happen to you or this innocent life inside you"
Sophie gave him a small smile and placed he hands ontop his.
Her soft smile sent shivers down his spine and he realized how long it has been since he kissed her.
The urge to kiss her feel so strong that he drew her slowly into his arms again and placed his lips over hers to seize her lips in a heartwarming kiss.
Sophie responded smoothly and Marcus smiled against her lips.
'You don't have to worry about anything. Just try as much as possible to stay indoor. I'll take you home as soon as I know that everywhere is safe and cool."
Sophie nodded her head, staring lovingly at him again and holding his hand securely in her hand.
He stared at her. and then slipped a strand of stray hair behind her ears.
"I love you" She told him. Despite all the problem and problems arising, she would always and always love him.
