"We're traveling out?!"
"Yes you are, like I said, it's not only you though, Evelina and Camille are both coming with you"
"Why are.... what's going on? Are we so busted that we can't even stay here any longer?" Sophie asked dumbfounded.
"Aren't you happy you're going away from all this mess?"
"I am....I just don't want to leave you alone in the mess" she said as she walked over to the nearest chair in the living room and sat down gently.
"You're not leaving me alone, I just want to clear up all the works I have on my desk before coming over to meet you"
Sophie didn't want to go without him, she wouldn't lie, she had a doubting mind but she wanted to be anywhere with him. Not without him.
But she knew he was doing the best for her. And it would be better to go.
She was getting closer to her delivery date. And she feared truly if she remained here, something might happen to her.
"Okay, I'll go but under one condition" she stated.
"What condition?"
"I want you to make a date which you won't miss that you'll fly over, and you must promise me that you mustn't miss that said date"
"Okay, I'll check my schedule and try to arrange it and tell you when I'll come."
"When are we going?"
"As soon as you're ready, your flight is scheduled for next weekend"
"Next weekend? Why so soon?"
"Soon? that's still a week away!"
"But it's still too soon anyway"
"It's isn't Sophie, tell the news to Evelina and Camille..."
"I'm sure they'll be excited about it" Sophie said trying to get up but couldn't as she felt stuck.
"Can you help me up...I'm even too heavy to carry myself" She laughed as she streached out her hand to him.
He moved closer to her and dragged her up. Slipping a hand through her waist as her big stomach came between them again.
"Let me place my ear on your stomach to hear the movement of my child"
She chuckled and grabbed his hand then dragged him up the stairs.
"Let's go up to your bedroom upstairs, it's weekend and the house is silent, I'm sure we'll enjoy some privacy before Evelina and Camille gets back with Elliot"
"Sounds cool" Marcus said as they both walked slowly up the stairs. And into his bedroom they went.
Sophie lied on his bed and Marcus climbed in beside her, Gently placing his right ear on her stomach to check for movement.
He gently patted her stomach "Baby, daddy's here. Can you shake for Daddy"
Sophie smiled almost in tears as she felt a little movement at the right hand side of her Tommy.
Marcus smiled softly at the sight of his baby moving at his voice.
Sophie smiled in tears, and ruffled Marcus hair. When he raised his head, there were tears slipping down his cheeks too and Sophie gasped in surprise.
"You're crying" Sophie softly cleaned his cheeks as he cleaned hers too.
"I'm just happy" He said kissing her forehead softly and gently slipping his hand through his hair.
"I'm happy too, our baby must be very happy too. I just wish our happiness is long lived. Will you marry me?"
Marcus stared dumbfounded at her, that was a too sudden question and he'd never expected that from her.
Sophie silently waited for his answer, praying and hoping he won't say something that will hurt and break her heart.
"Yes I will"
Sophie sagged in relief and kissed him happily. Still silently shedding tears of joy.
"When everything is finally settled, I'll get down on one knee, propose to you and you'll wear my ring and carry my baby."
Sophie nodded happily.
"That's the only thing I'm looking forward to now"
"No it's not... Seeing our child is the first thing we're looking forward to, then getting married us the second"
Sophie laughed softly" Am glad you could correct me. Thank you Marcus"
"What are you thanking me for? I should be the one thanking you. For not leaving me alone even when you're about to loose your life or when your mother was killed." He told her and Sophie smiled sadly. Remembering her mother.
Oh her poor mom. Sophie hope she's also happy seeing her happy wherever she is now. She will forever be imprinted in her heart.
Marcus noticed her sad look and layed her back down on the bed, lying down with her too. Her back to his front as he placed his hand gently on her stomach.
"I'm sorry for making you sad" He said
Sophie shook her head. "Rubbish," she said as she cleaned her tears with her free hand.
"I'm not sad, I'm just praying my mom is happy wherever she is and shell protect us from up there. Because when I was a kid, she told me the story of ghosts watching over those they loved."
Marcus smiled warmly, truly his mother told him the same story and that was what had kept him going for many years because he believed that his mother was watching him and following him through hard times.
"Hmnn" he agreed.
They where both silent for sometime and the sound of doors opening and footsteps made them realize that they're no longer alone in the house.
"Sophie! We're home!" Evelina called out for them to know they're back from the store. She could hear Camille's chuckles too and Sophie smiled at the happy instincts of everyone.
She got up but Marcus drew her back.
"And where do you think you're going?" he asked her.
"I want to go down to meet them"
"No! You're done for today, I'll go down and tell Evelina to prepare your favourite and I'll bring it up when she's done but you Sophie are staying here." He said getting up from the bed and Sophie tried to get up again but his words stopped her.
"Stop! I said no movement"
Sophie glared at him annoyingly and relaxed back against the bed, watching him as he left the room and trotted down the stairs
Sophie imagined when she'd first came into this house, with Marcus looking all rugged and brutal, not a single smiling line in his face.
But here he was laughing and smiling at her words, and even crying at the movement of his baby.
Or was he in love with her?
Could he really be in love with her?
He said he'll marry her after all this problems had died down.
Why was he marrying her? For the baby? Or his love for her?
Should she ask him? Or was she just being too selfish and self centered?
