Night call

Lili's watch was vibrating. And whoever was calling, she would kill him. They arrived in Hong Kong today late at night and they both had jet lag. It was six hours difference, and it killed them. She looked at the watches. It was 3 a.m. so it had to be pretty urgent for someone to call her so late at night.

"Mmm," Lili murmured into the watch after she picked up the call with closed eyes.

"You are already sleeping? I'm sorry I disturbed you." It was Adam. Lili felt movement next to her. Lei hugged her from behind.

"Yes. What did you need?" she said and turned down the volume a bit so Lei wouldn't wake up. But nowhere in hell. She would go away from the bed to search for the phone. It was so cozy here.

"Ah, I just wanted to say I'm sorry I left so in a hurry on Saturday." Lili grimaced and snuggled into Lei's hug to be more comfortable.

"It's okay. We can talk later. It's three in the morning here and I'm tired," she mumbled into the watch.

"I'm sorry I woke you up. Where are you?" Lili's eyes started to close again. Little talk? Right now? She never noticed how weird he was.

Or was it that he became like this now? He was okay when she talked to him once per months before. Or that was it. Now he talked to her more, so she just noticed how annoying it was.

"In Hong Kong." She politely answered.

"What are you doing there? Are you with Lucy again?"

"Who is it? Why is he calling so late?" Lei whispered into her ear and her blood was immediately boiling. Lili turned around to face Lei.

"Was that guy? Are you okay? Should I call the police?" Adam frantically lamented.

"Nah. It's okay. That's my boyfriend. I'm here with him." Silence.

"Leilei, that's Adam. Boy-friend from college." Lei sat up.

"That's your ex? He is calling you now?" Lili's sleep clouded brain woke up. That's a problem. Did he want her to think in two different languages at the same time in the early morning? Not going to happen.

"No, I meant it as a male friend. You know my exes. They hurt me. I would never pick up their call." Lei calmed down and laid down again, hugging her.

Lili looked at the watches and noticed Adam had already ended the call. And she never noticed. But who cared? He was making only small talk. If it was something urgent, he should have told her before.

"Set your phone to silence next time. The night is our time and I don't want anyone to disturb us." Oh, so sweet he was.

"It's the watch. It connected and was vibrating, so it woke me up." She leaned into him to kiss his cheek. Dangerous move.

"Never, ever assume that I'm too tired to have you. I will never have enough of you." He smiled and kissed her. Her watches vibrated again.

"It's Adam again. Maybe it was something urgent." Lei nodded, and she answered again.

"…" Silence.

"Maybe his phone broke. I will try to call him back." She did as she said.

"Adam? What is going on?" He picked up the call.

"Sorry I was cut off," he said, and Lili was relieved.

"Are you alone now?" he asked. Weird question.

"No worries, Leilei can't speak Czech so you can talk," she answered, but still worried about what this was about.

"So, you are with what?" What? Are you kidding me?

"With whom I am? He is Chinese. But that's minor. What's so urgent you called me?" Silence again.

"Hello?"

"You are in bed with some yellow sushi?" Wow, Lili was shocked.

"Sushi is from Japan. He is from Hong Kong, so you could say I'm more like with Bruce Lee." Yeeey, Lili scored a comeback and was proud of herself. It would be better if she could remember someone other than Bruce Lee, but her brain was a bit clouded as Lei was kissing the skin on her back.

"And please stop being racist, or I'll be forced to stop being friends with you. I can't take someone talking about my boyfriend in a bad way," she finished, pissed at him.

"Whatever!" he yelled and Lili heard a crash, then the call was cut off. She was a bit sad. She never knew he was such a racist.

"Are you okay?" Lei asked, concerned.

"Yeah, sure. But now I'm awake. I will probably go downstairs to play some games. You go to sleep." Lei sat up again.

"I will go with you. It's not good to play games so late. But I won't leave you alone." Honey. Concerned. Not abusive. He said his opinion, but also, he got her feelings of not knowing what to do.

Lili was really into him. So, she would never allow some racist shit to separate them. She would rather not have friends like that.
