The Gold Mine

"This is it?"

"Yes..."

Leon and Tessa stood in front of the arc opening of the cave that was located at the far end of the orc's city. Their environment was stony just like the city itself since it was located in front of a mountain. Leon looked deep into the dark cave and looked at Tessa.

"Go do your thing, I'll be waiting for you." He said.

She hissed at him and went inside. Leon sat down on a stone beside the entrance of the cave.

"Haven't I attracted trouble..." He said as the memory of the floating man flashed again in his mind. "Just what is this world about, there is the crazy guy that loves killing, then the gods... I don't know what to do. By the shouldn't Gretas have progressed with the quest already, it's been a little over a month since he left." Leon said and texted him.

=> Oi, no update?

=> Boss, I'm in Amsterdam.

=> The f**k is that?

=> ʕ •́؈•̀ ₎ it's somewhere in Romel, it's said to be the first city of civilization, on this continent, the oldest city in history, so its where all players go for clues. I'm sure I'll find something there.

=> Whatever, just make sure you get back to me.

=> Aww Aww, are you missing me already?

=> Fuck off.

Leon closed the chat box and stood up, "has she been killed." He said and entered the cave.

From the immediate entrance, the walls were overlaid with gold ore, he touched it. "I can't believe it, this is so real." He said as he touched the walls softly, from the entry point into the cave, even the ground was an alluvial deposition of gold ore. Leon walked deeper into the cave and was awed.

"This has to be magical, it's impossible for there to be too much gold deposited in one place." He said he was suddenly warned by his sharp perception. He had equipped his sword before he jumped back and looked ahead.

A large dark and purple spider was standing before Tessa who was the size of an ant compared to the spider. A magical circled glowed as the proof of a pact that was just formed between them. The spider immediately reduced in size and landed on Tessa's shoulder. She turned back to Leon.

"I thought you were not coming. Were you worried about me?" Tessa asked, letting out a soft scoff.

Leon's hand didn't relax from his sword because even though the giant spider had reduced in size and was on Tessa's shoulder, darkness could not hide the presence of other spiders from his perception.

"Are they your lackeys or should I just deal with them?" Leon asked.

"What do you mean?" Tessa said.

Leon observed her countenance, 'She does not know?...' He thought and was quite surprised.

"It seems your friend here has noticed my children." A soft feminine voice rang out from Tessa's shoulder.

"It talks?!" Leon freaked out, "What the hell is that?"

"This is Arak, that I told you about?" Tessa replied.

"Yea Hell, what the hell is she?"

She tilted her head in the confusion of Leon's question. "A spider?"

"A spider, I see..." '...so that's how a spider, looks like...so many legs.'

"Wait, have you never seen a spider before?"

"Why not?" Leon smirk.

"He's a mor'kind," Arak said.

"What is that?" Tessa asked.

"A superior race, however, it seems he knows not about his heritage."

"...this life is so unfair, why does he have it all, a duke, a strong profession maybe and now even a superior race..." She muttered. "You can have your cave as promised, however deep inside this cave there are thousands of spiders of different species who are all Arak's children, they must not be killed." She said aloud.

"Then take them away" Leon replied.

"To where? your duchy? Appoint me a count and I will find a solution to it."

Leon giggled, "You must be kidding, there's just no end to your parasitism. I can kill all of them either way."

"You are cocky, you think only you can deal with over a hundred thousand spiders?" Tessa said.

Leon rubbed his chin and grinned.

[You have equipped 'Sturdy Pickaxe' ]

"Maybe, not but I'm sure when I disturb someone who can, both of us will die and resurrect but what do you think will happen to your precious Akant and her children."

"I'm Arak."

"I don't give a damn, spider mommy"

The spider paused, her compound eyes making it hard to tell her expression, "...you are rude but never have I been called mommy, I will pardon your rudeness because of your choice of word. Do not dare to wake the gold dragon."

"Gold dragon? Ah no wonder, it makes sense... it's a gold dragon." Leon said and continued, "Well, if you don't want it to wake up you better get rid of your children while I'm asking nicely." Leon concluded, swinging the pickaxe.

"What shall we do Miss Tessa, I have no idea you had cruel friends like this" Arak said.

"I'm sorry, but is there anything we can do...?"

"I can send them into the world, but I fear the dangers of the world will end their precious life," Arak said.

~Kangh!~

~Kangh!~

"F**k!! what the hell are you doing?!!" Tessa screamed.

"That's a warning strike, so you can know how serious I am," Leon said, pouncing the pickaxe.

~TREMBLE~

Leon froze after the short tremor, "There's no way it will wake up with just that right?" Leon said.

"I don't know, all I know is the gold dragon is an elderwyrm that has been in hibernation for over five hundred years that I've been here. And he is very sensitive."

"...Ah shit..."

Leon suddenly disappeared amidst them.

"What the f**k?!! Did that bastard just log out?!" Tessa cried out.

"That teleportation speed, he was probably summoned by the gold dragon..." Arak responded, "... it's the same thing that happened to me when I first entered here"

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Because now that I have completed this quest, I don't care what happens to him and this gold mine." She said.

"Well, it all depends on him, gold dragons are the most considerate of all species of dragon, however maybe because he is an injured elderwyrm, this one is extra considerate," Arak replied.

"...Sad...so he might get the gold mine if he speaks well."
