CHAPTER SEVEN

CZELVIE can't hide her excitement when the first day of class finally came. She guesses all students feel that way on the first day.

And like the previous days, when she went out of her room, a vampire is in the living room. But this time, it's not Khai but Scarlet.

And just like what Khai did, she escorted her but only up to the elevator. She plans to just go on but she can't help but look back at her and ask.

"Aren't you coming with me?"

"Why would I do that?" Scarlet said with her poker face which made her more uncomfortable.

Unlike Khai, she feels like it will be hard to make friends with Scarlet. She looks very serious and unapproachable.

"I-I was just asking."

"I just followed you until here since you're in our territory. The younger vampires might not be able to control themselves and bit you. It's actually a burden that we were asked to do this just because you're our roommate. When in the first place, you're not supposed to be here."

After saying that, Scarlet turns her back on her while she remains unmoving in her place. She felt embarrassed about herself. She assumed they were protecting her for a deeper reason. It seems like they were just forced to do it.

"WE ASKED Scarlet to do the job because she's naturally cold and intimidating. But I never expected that she would reach that far, " Khai said after they heard Scarlet and Czelvie's conversation.

"If you're that worried about Czelvie, go and follow her."

"No, I'm not. I'm just saying," Khai climb on the railings. "I'm only going to follow her because it's my job," Khai said defensively as he jump from the veranda.

Xent told his team to make their mission less obvious. Being too close to Czelvie would only draw attention. Not just by the humans but also by vampires. It might only call the enemy's attention too. They have to be more careful since they don't know who their enemies are.

He guesses that after what Scarlet did, Czelvie would no longer think that they were watching her every move. That way, she would no longer be conscious and able to move in Paramount freely.

But of course, they would still be with her wherever she goes. In fact, Khai left to follow her. So as Scarlet. He's supposed to be there with them as well but he's not in the mood to leave. He'll find out if someone uninvited comes inside the University's premises anyway.

Using the droplets of his blood which he spread around the University, he can detect if someone enters the area. He can easily communicate with Scarlet and Khai as well.

He's about to get inside his room when suddenly, he felt so weak and fell to the ground.

"CZELVIE! Sit here!" said Trixy while waving at her. "Look, Lara is here too. What a coincidence. We're in the same class!"

"Hi, Czelvie! This is going to be fun, " said, Lara.

She forced a smile. Though these girls have been so friendly with her since day one, she was a bit hesitant to come near them.

It's always her concern how she can get along with her classmates every school year. Because she has foreign blood, they always presume that she's from a rich family. But when they find out that she's from an orphanage, they look at her as if she has a contagious disease. Her classmates are not even from rich families back then. How much more now that everyone in there came from a prominent and rich family.

Trixy's family owns the largest mall in the country. While Lara's family owns hotels and resorts. And for sure, her other classmates have an impressive family backgrounds as well.

"It's your turn to share your story, Czelvie. So, what does your family do?" asked Trixy after she and Lara were done talking about their families.

She clears her throat. Will she be honest? What if they reject her too if they find out the truth?

"Is there something wrong?" asked Lara.

But if she's going to lie, it will only cause her trouble in the future. Maybe it's better for her to know their true colors while it's still early.

"I-I grow up in an orphanage. And I got here because of a scholarship."

She was expecting that they would be disgusted knowing the truth but to her surprise, they look so amazed finding out that she got in there through a scholarship.

"It was you? That's cool! You must be very intelligent to get such an offer. And I'm sure your family in the orphanage are so proud of you," said Trixy.

"My Mom is actually searching for an orphanage to donate to for her fiftieth birthday. I'll tell her to just send it to the orphanage you came from," said Lara.

Honestly, she was scared and worried about how she'd be able to enjoy her stay in Paramount after her encounter with Scarlet. Hearing those words from Trixy and Lara gave her hope.

With these girls' gestures, she suddenly became emotional. She never thought she could find nice people like them in such a place.

So far, her morning still went well. She found new friends and she was able to get perfect scores in their exams as well.

During lunch break, they're heading to the canteen when she remembers something. There were two cards attached to the envelope with her room key. One gives her access to most places, while the other one serves as her money. She can't buy anything without that card.

When she told Trixy and Lara about it, they told her that they will just treat her to lunch. She doesn't want them to think that she's taking advantage of their friendship that's why she insisted on going back to the dormitory.

She was catching her breath the moment she reaches the dormitory. While in the elevator, she was already thinking about how she'd get back to the canteen on time. Now she regrets going home. She should have just accepted her friends' offer.

When she was about to get inside her room, she gasp when she found Xent lying on the ground with his eyes closed. He seems unconscious. What happened to him? Is he dead? But if he's dead, he should have turned into ashes, right?

Should she help him? Or should she just ignore him? Are their other roommates not there? Why they didn't help their friend? And why is he there? Do vampires get sick as well?

Her heart was beating so fast. She doesn't know what to do. But even if she was hesitant, in the end, she decided to get near him and help.

"X-Xent? Are you okay?" she kneels on his side and touches his forehead.

She screams when suddenly, he grabs her hand and pulls her. She fell on top of him with her hands on his chest. Their faces were just a few inches away from one another.

She's not sure if it was just her imagination but it's like the color of Xent's red eye became redder. His fangs appear as well.

"You smell so good, " he said.

She had goosebumps when suddenly, Xent licked her neck. She wanted to move away from him but he was so strong. She closed her eyes when she felt Xent's fangs touching her neck.
