CHAPTER SIX

"IT'S your turn. Tell me about yourself," Czelvie said to Khai after she tells him her life story. She looked at him when he didn't say anything. "Don't tell me you don't have a story to tell? I have a feeling that you have lived longer than me."

They walked around the University's premises. They have seen the actual University and she thinks it was twice bigger as the dormitory. A few steps away from the school building, there was a gym and also a field that's big as a soccer field. And it's not even half the entirety of the land but she's already tired.

When she saw a bench, she decided to rest. There, she tried to make a conversation with Khai. In that way, he might make a mistake and spill information that could be beneficial to her.

"That's all you're going to say? I thought you want us to talk about our life stories?" Khai asked.

She told Khai that she was raised in an orphanage. That she hasn't met her parents. That she's studying hard to have a better future. But it seems like he's not satisfied to hear those.

"That's exactly what I did. I know it's quite boring but that's already my life story. So, what's your story? You mentioned that you've been here a couple of times. But you also said that you're just a freshman like me. I'm just curious how that happened."

Khai got silent. Maybe he's contemplating if he's going to say something or not. She thought she could find any information on that day but instead of speaking, Khai stood up and told her that they should go back to the dormitory. Though she's really eager to know his story, she decided to give up for now. Maybe in the coming days, she can make him talk.

Going back, she realized something. There are a lot of students from the day class who are walking around but there are none from the night class except Khai. Maybe because it's broad daylight? Right. Vampires are afraid of sunlight!

She looks at Khai. He doesn't look in pain. His skin is not melting. She can't see any smoke around him either, but she's still worried.

"Are you okay?"

"Why wouldn't I be okay?"

"Because it's morning and you're walking under the sun."

"Are you worried that I'd die because of the sun?" he looks at her and smirk. "I'm not a weak vampire, Czelvie."

She actually felt that during the welcome gathering. She saw some vampires vowed at them. She wonder if that was just a normal thing. But after what Khai said, it seems like they did that as respect. She got even more curious about why she was being surrounded by a vampire like Khai.

They're about to pass the building where the Head Mistress's office was when Khai suddenly halted and kneel like a knight. Is that how they usually act in front of that building? When she looked at the stairs, that's only when she noticed a woman going down. She's wearing a black ankle-length dress. She was surprised when Xent came out of the building following her. She wonders why Xent is with her.

When the woman finally came down, she faced them. Like Czelvie expected, with her red eyes, she's also a vampire. And Czelvie thinks she's the prettiest among all the vampires she met since she got to Paramount.

For Khai to show her that much respect, she must be a high-ranking vampire. Is she the Head Mistress?

The woman looks so serious but she suddenly smiles while looking at her. "Nice meeting you, Czelvie Grace."

She panics about what to do. Should she kneel too? Should she greet her as well? In the end, she just froze in place. The woman looked back at Xent. They nod at each other before the woman looked her again and disappears. She gasps in surprise. How did she do that?

"W-Who was that?" she was finally able to speak.

That's only when Khai got up. "She's Farrah, the Vampire Queen."

Her eyes widen in shock. That woman is the Vampire Queen? She thought the Vampire Queen is an old lady.

She heard that only a few people have seen her. Not even all vampires know what she looks like. She must be lucky. Or not?

"Is it a bad thing that I saw her?"

"Not really," Khai looks at her. "The Queen seldom smiles but she seems fond of you. You're such a fortunate human being."

She hopes it's really not a big deal. But for the Queen to know her, she must also be aware of who brought her to Paramount.

Why does she feel like she has a connection with vampires? After all, everyone that's in the University apart from the day class students were all vampires. But why exactly did they bring her there? What do they want from her?

"THAT was so unusual. The Queen never smiled so kindly like that even to us. There must be something about Czelvie that makes her so special to the Queen. Do you think she's the Queen's child to that human? They had a relationship, hadn't they? That's the only reason I could think of for the Queen to care about a human that much. It is possible, isn't it?" asked Khai while they were all in their respective rooms.

"Whatever her relationship to the Queen is no longer our concern. Our mission is to protect Czelvie, and that's all you need to think of," Scarlet said.

He can hear the two talking but Xent chose to keep silent. And even if he doesn't want to remember that face again, that man's face appeared in his mind. Even if it has been more than fifteen years, he can still remember his face clearly. But how did he not realize it right away when Czelvie definitely has a huge resemblance to the man he hated so much.
