"It seems they were here a few hours ago" Jayer squatted down and checked on the prints on the ground. Miriam smelled the soil and nodded at Jayer, showing him leaving.
"Let's go left." He said, and Frank looked at him, then at Miriam before nodding. They followed left, and sure that was the right track. The other prints were there to mislead them.
They had walked for about three hours before reaching the end where the last track was seen.
"It ends here," Jayer said, looking at the print. It was the same as the others, but here, there were around four of them.
"How many do you think there are out there?" Frank asked, looking down. He was the one that trained Jayer, so he knew how well Jayer was versed in numbers and tracking.
"It should be five," he said, looking at the prints on the ground. It was like he could see invisible footsteps that others could not see.
"Then let's head to this residential area. Just as they walked a few steps, the hunters at the back were screaming as figures in the fire were coming at them at high speed, killing them. They didn't see that coming. The two of the hunters didn't have time to pull the trigger when they burned alive.
"Careful. Go into formation. Aim its core area." Frank shouted as Miriam and Jayer went close together. They had fought that thing before and knew how hard it is to kill
"Be careful," Jayer said to Miriam locking his gaze at his right as their backs came together, each covering different sides for the other.
"Mmmmh," Miriam said, looking ahead. The inferno kept on appearing and disappearing with one member. It went on for a while, and they were surrounded. They could not run or move. It was like they were locked in one place. If one of them moved, they would be taken.
Frank looked at their behaviors, and something hit him
"No. They are not fighting us. They are stalling for time." We have to go to the residential area. People are in danger," He shouted at the team, and Jayer was a surprise
"I may know where they are heading." He said, thinking of his son and the rest
"Where?" Patrick asked.
"There is a party and the chief of security home. His son invited other students there" when he said that Patrick was still.
"My daughter went there as well. We have to get out of this encirclement," he said, fighting his way out. The rest of the people fought as they tried to kill the creature in one shot. It wasn't easy, but in the end, they did it.
While the hunters were busy preparing for their hunt, the kids were ready at the party with dance and drinks. There were not allowed to drink, but they still did.
Jason and Max arrived and waited outside for Alicia. It took thirty minutes for her to pull over to the area.
"Sorry I am late," she said, looking at the two weird people
"It's okay. We were just cooling here for a while," Jason said while Max looked at him. The guy was nervous his first date would flop, and he was pretending. Max threw one last look at his friend and excused himself. He didn't want to be the third wheel on their date
"Shall we?" Jason asked, offering his hand to Alicia
"Sure. Why not?' she smiled at him and walked together inside the house. It was not noisy from the outside, but the music hit them when they pressed the button, and the door opened. It was so loud
"Jason" Mike was surprised to see Jason. He had rejected the invitation. He turned to look at the beautiful woman holding his arms, surprised. He had specially invited the young lady to the party himself. He wanted to hit on her, but it seemed Jason beat him to it
"I thought you said you won't be coming," Mike asked, welcoming them in
"I changed my mind."
"Oh, okay. I see" Mike threw the two of them a look and led them inside. Alicia looked at Jason, surprised. It seems he came because of her.
"Don't mind him," Jason saw the look and said. The crown was too much. It was like the whole school came. There was literary no space. People were dancing, jumping in all kinds of styles. Others were seated at the corner making out. Some were drinking in a different corner. It was literary a party.
"Let's find somewhere less noisy," Jason suggested, and Alicia nodded. They went to the back of the house. Music could be heard but less noisy. Here they could talk while dancing if they wanted to. But it seems they both were not into dancing and drinking.
"I guess you are new in town and have no friends yet" Jason didn't know how to start a conversation. He could only say what came first to his mind.
"I am, but I didn't like too many friends," Alicia answered, getting a spot and sitting down. She seemed she was not interested in the party. It was like she wanted to get out of her home.
"You also don't like parties?" Jason asked, sitting down next to her
"The crowd is too much. I like quiet places. The crowd is not my thing," Jason laughed, listening to her. It was like they were alike
"Me neither. I don't like where there are too many people." While they were chatting, Mike came with a few of his friends with drinks
"Hey Mackenzie, aah. We were wondering if we could put a fighting stage up and practice with those interested." Mike was not sure about the request. It's something they thought of, remembering how Jason beat them. They wanted to earn something out of the fight.
"Not interested," Jason answered without hesitation. He knew what the other was thinking and planning. He was not going to put himself in danger just to entertain others.
Right at that moment, noises were coming from the other room. It could be because they were excited, but the screaming was loud than the music.
"What's happening?" Jason stood immediately and looked through the crowd. He could see some men with red eyes walking among the people throwing them off their path.
"Infernos," Jason muttered and pulled Alicia out of there.
