"Will she remember killing all those people?" Max asked all of a sudden. The doctor looked at him and then at her body and sighed," She will have a slight memory of it but not as her doing it," he said and disappeared before them.
"Let's go home" Jason was strongest, so he carried Mrs. Mapendo to where they parked the car. They went home in the back of the car. The woman opened her eyes slightly when they were not looking and smiled sinisterly. When max turned to look at his mom, she had already closed her eyes again.
"Did you feel that?" Jason asked as he was driving on the abandoned forest road. There were no more cars in the area. Just them and the creepy sounds of the forest. They were surrounded by trees on both sides of the road. He could feel something invading his soul.
"No. What are you feeling?" Max asked, looking at Jason in confusion. They had been driving hours back home since they found his mom. She was asleep all along but with steady breathing. That put him at ease.
"I feel like something is trying to invade my soul. Like something cold penetrating my body." Jason said before something hit his mind. He suddenly stepped on the breaks, causing Max almost to hit his head on the dashboard.
"Hey, watch it. Do you want to kill us? What is it?' Max looked at the pale Jason and was scared as well.
"I think we may have been fooled," Jason said, turning to look at Mrs. Mapendo. She had her eyes opened at that moment, looking confused.
"What happened to me?' she said in her voice. Even Jason was not sure what he was feeling. Max looked at Jason and then smiled at his mom.
"Mom. Are you okay?" he asked excitedly.
"I am fine. What are we doing here at this time of the night?" she asked, looking at the dark environment.
"We are going home," Max said, looking at Jason weirdly. It seems he felt something earlier, and it was related to his mom. But his mom was fine. Why was he saying they had been fooled? Max wondered.
"Max. That is not your mother," Jason said, looking at the body of Mrs. Mapendo. His eyes turned green.
He could see something. No one else could.
He could see a person for who they were. He turned to his stunned friend, his eyes still green.
"Your eyes. They are not yellow. They are green," Max said to himself, then to Jason. Jason didn't have time to react to his eyes turning green, but he needed to find a way to deal with the situation. The shadow was still there. He lured Maxwell away to deal with them.
Jason jumped out of the car, followed by Max, who was unsure what was happening.
"Max, what's happening?" she asked, looking pitifully at her son. Max was sure that was his mom and not a human-killing monster.
"It's her. Don't hurt her." Max looked at the changing Jason and asked. Jason had turned. His claws were out and ready to pounce on her if she came at them.
"That is not your mother. It's pretending to be her." Jason answered in a deep voice before turning into a beautiful black wolf. Its eyes were golden yellow. They were beautiful.
"Don't hurt her, Jason," Max called out to Jason, but he was determined to fight her. He saw her for who she was.
But Max could not. His love for his mother blinded him.
"Don't do anything that will make me hate you," Max shouted angrily. He was immersed in his defense.
He didn't see a sinister smile across her face in the car. She got out and walked to Jason's side.
"Jason. Come on. It's me" Jason heard that beautiful voice and almost believed her. But he could see a shadow attached to the body.
"No. I can see you for who you are," Jason said, and the creature was stunned and stopped in his tracks. He turned to the side where Max was and laughed very loud. His voice changed, which rendered Max speechless. He was shaking in fear, his legs almost giving way. He looked pained and weakened.
"Mom. It's me," he called her, but he got another laugh the shadow going to him." Come to mummy, son." It used his mom's voice to call on him. Max looked at it and felt cold all over his body. It was like something was trying to enter his soul. He now could feel what Jason felt while in the car. That thing was trying to take over his body.
"Get away from him," Jason shouted at the shadow, but it was nothing that could scare it. The shadow walked to Max and lifted him from the ground. Sparks of electricity started to flow from its body. Max was scared when the lightning began to go toward his body. He felt like that thing was taking charge of his body. His blood was being drained or pulled out of his body. That's the exact thing he felt. It was terrible.
Jason howled and jumped at the shadow. It did not expect him to be decisive and ignore the body of the pitiful woman. The wolf knocked him down to the ground. Max was thrown away from him. Jason went forward, lifting its claws to rip Mrs. Mapendo's throat out. He was in a challenging position. The only option he had was to kill the host. That way, the shadow will have no host and will die.
"No, don't kill her," Max cried, but it was too late. Jason raised his claws and hesitated for a few seconds but still ripped her neck, "I am sorry, but that was the only way to save the town from the killings," Jason turned back to human and said to his friend. Blood gurgled out of her mouth as it sprayed into the air. Jason was sad, but that was the only way to render the evil shadow host less. It will kill more people.
"You killed my mom." Max was furious, his eyes bloodshot as he struggled to stand up from the ground and limp toward her. He was raged, tears falling from his eyes.
"I am sorry."
"You killed her" Max shouted at him. His body started to change at that moment. His eyes turned fire red as his hands and body produced more flames. Jason was stunned at that moment, looking at Max. He didn't even seem to know what was happening to him.
