THE DEATH OF THE GODDESS

["The story began twenty-eight years ago when the Moon Goddess fought the Dark Lord from the Shadowed Land and lost."

Davel carefully listened to the woman who claimed to be the shadow of the Moon Goddess. No longer kneeling, the white-haired man stood on his two feet again as he listened to the story.

The Dark Lord was the creature who had created the vampires and the Shadowed Land, and he was the mortal enemy of the Moon Goddess. Hearing that the Goddess lost the battle against the Dark Lord, Davel felt his chest tighten.

"So, the Moon Goddess died in that battle?" The long-haired werewolf in human form asked the question in a timid tone. Imagining how the Goddess died in battle, he felt something heavy in his heart.

"No," replied the Moon Goddess's shadow. "Back then, the Moon Goddess lost because she had spent most of her energy protecting humans by creating werewolves. You know that the Moon Goddess had to protect humans but couldn't do it directly, right? Therefore, she had to use a lot of her energy to create the werewolves as well as the Full Moon Land as a home for all werewolves. When the Dark Lord attacked her, the Moon Goddess was not in top condition."

It was a very heartbreaking story, and Davel couldn't even utter a word when the Moon Goddess's shadow told the story.

"Back then, the Moon Goddess was still able to escape even though she was very weak, and she also managed to strengthen the barrier around the Full Moon Land in the hopes that the werewolves could stay alive and still be able to protect the humans. After that, she lost all her energy and disappeared into thin air. That's how the Moon Goddess died twenty-eight years ago."

The Moon Goddess never appeared in front of the werewolves again after the werewolves were created a hundred years ago, but Davel didn't expect that the Goddess would be in such a weak state after that.

Davel and the other werewolves assumed that the Goddess was always with them even if she never appeared in front of them again, not expecting that the Goddess had died twenty-eight years ago.

Davel had hoped that the Moon Goddess would save the humans and his kind from the heartless vampires, but now that he knew that the Goddess had died, his shoulders dropped as if he had lost all hope.

He didn't know what happened to the other werewolves and the humans after he asked them to hide in the Full Moon Land, but he knew that they couldn't hide in the land forever without the protection of the Goddess.

"...it's your job to find the Moon Goddess, Davel."

The white werewolf was desperate, but he suddenly heard something from the silver-haired woman that startled him.

Maybe he didn't even notice that he was daydreaming and only heard the woman's last sentence.

"What do you mean it's my job to find the Moon Goddess? Didn't you say that the Goddess has died?" Davel asked a question when he found something odd in the woman's speech. He even thought that he heard it wrong.

"You heard it right," the woman replied as if she could read Davel's mind. "The Moon Goddess did die, but she has reincarnated in another world."

Dave was silent. He wasn't someone who believed in reincarnation, but it was the shadow of the Moon Goddess who had just spoken, so he couldn't say it was nonsense.

"Why should I find the Moon Goddess?" Asked Davel again.

Hearing that question, the shadow of the Goddess stared at the werewolf in disbelief. "You're still asking?"

And without explaining further, the air in front of Davel suddenly trembled before manifesting into a moving image. Davel's breath caught as his blue eyes reflected the moving image.

Countless vampires preyed on the humans who failed to escape along with the werewolves. In his world, vampire bites didn't cause humans to turn into vampires, but they would die instantly. The wild animals then took the opportunity to devour the human corpse.

However, the vampire population continued to increase because they were creatures created from darkness. As long as the Dark Lord still had the power to create vampires, vampires would not become extinct.

The land of humans was chaotic with humans being its prey, and when the scene suddenly shifted elsewhere, Davel felt like he couldn't feel his legs anymore.

Around the Full Moon Land, the barrier created by the Moon Goddess was still there, but many vampires surrounded it and tried to destroy it, and it almost broke Davel's heart as well.

The werewolves managed to bring around a hundred humans to the Full Moon Land, but he wasn't sure if they would all remain safe within the barrier.

"The Moon Goddess has died, so the barrier won't last long," the Moon Goddess's shadow spoke again after the moving image in front of Davel disappeared. "Only the Moon Goddess can save humans and werewolves, and that's why you must bring her back to your world, Davel."

Davel still felt the bones in his legs turning liquid, and he couldn't answer the woman's statement.

"The choice is yours, but you must remember that only you can bring the Goddess back to your world."

"..."

Davel still didn't answer. He knew that he was the Werewolf King, but everything was shocking.

"If you decide to do the job, then you can go there," the shadow of the Moon Goddess spoke again as she extended her right hand to one end of the bridge. "But if you don't want to do the job, then you can choose another way," she continued while glancing at the other end of the bridge. That was the direction that Davel would have taken earlier.

"If I don't want to do the job, then that means I'm going to die?" Gathering his courage, Davel finally responded to the woman's words.

"Yes," the woman replied. "Not only you will die, but all humans and your kind in your world will also die."]
