THREE REASONS TO GET MARRIED

"This is an issue."

She could hear her mother talking after sipping her favorite green tea. Her mother really cared about her body, so she did not want to eat too much sugar. So, the green tea was less sugar, and Lycia, being someone who loved sweets, couldn't imagine how it tasted.

"What's the problem, Mom?" Lycia, who was sitting across from her mother in the living room, questioned her mother carefully.

She was nervous when she thought that her mother would say that the green tea she made tasted bad. To her, the tea would definitely taste bad because she just added a little sugar, but she didn't think that her mother would not like it.

"That's a problem because you don't want to get married, Lycia!"

All the nervousness in Lycia's heart disappeared as soon as she heard her mother's answer. Her worried gaze was replaced by a stoic one, and she stared at her mother dryly.

She should have expected that her mother would bring up the topic of marriage again. Until she brought a man to meet her parents and said that she would marry him, her parents would not stop haunting her with this topic of marriage.

The topic even haunted her in her dreams, causing her to lose the quality of her sleep because of the nightmare.

"It's not that I don't want to get married, Mom. I just haven't found someone who's right for me. That's all," Lycia finally said to her mother as she massaged her sore temples.

Discussing this matter with her mother always made her dizzy. Even if she tried not to think about it seriously, this matter always had a way of interfering with her life.

"What kind of suitable person are you waiting for?" Her mother kept pressing her. "All men have the same penis which can help me get my grandson, so they are all the same, Lycia!"

Lycia stared at her mother in disbelief. All her mom could think about was a man's genitals?

Her mother kept urging her to marry someone not because she hated her or anything. No, her mother wasn't her stepmother who would bully her every day. Her mother was her biological mother, the one who had given birth to her many years ago.

Her mother kept forcing her to marry not because the woman hated her, but it was for three reasons. First, it was because her mother's friends kept questioning her about her daughter being single forever. And second, her mother already wanted to have grandchildren.

Lycia was the only child her parents had, and she was too old to be spoiled by her parents. Therefore, her parents wanted her to give them a grandchild so that they could pamper the child.

It might be ridiculous for other people to have such desires, but Lycia could understand her parents deeply.

Her parents had to wait for her to appear in her mother's womb for almost ten years, and the wait must have been exhausting. And after giving birth to her, her mother couldn't have another child for some reason.

Her parents were indeed not young anymore, and that was why they already wanted to have grandchildren. Because of that, they kept urging their only daughter to get married as soon as possible.

And the third reason was...

"Don't you remember that the shaman we met on the street told you that you will stay single forever if you don't marry before the age of 30? I can't imagine you being single forever, Lycia! You just need to marry anyone with a penis!"

Her mother went back to her weird nature again, and Lycia was too tired to rebuke when she chose to lean her tired back against the back of the sofa.

That was the reason why Davel's mother reminded her so much of her mother. The two of them didn't use logic to think, and instead, they chose to believe in something like a shaman.

Lycia was a logical person, and that was why she felt so tired whenever her mother brought the shaman who bumped into them on the street a month ago.

They didn't even know the shaman, but the shaman suddenly looked at Lycia's hazel eyes for a moment before speaking,

["You are full of good energy gathering on your forehead, young girl. The natural element in your body is strong, and it brings a lot of luck to your life. However, if you don't get married before you turn 30, then you will remain single forever. The luck that's staying with you will be exhausted, and you will be the unlucky one instead."]

To Lycia, it sounded more like a curse than a vision.

"I'll only be 30 in a few years, Mom. I still have time to find a man for myself, right?" Lycia finally responded to her mother's words.

"Do you think a few months will be enough for you to find a husband? You have used almost three decades to live on this Earth, but you are still single until now, right?"

"..." Lycia felt like an unwanted child because her mother even indirectly accused her of being useless just because she still couldn't find a husband.

'I'm so tired, and I just want to get away from my mother now!' Lycia screamed inwardly, hoping that something would help her escape her nagging mother.

And Heaven listened to her prayer because suddenly, she could hear her cell phone ringing in her room. "I'll answer the phone first, Mom!" She excitedly exclaimed as she got up from the sofa and immediately ran towards her room.

"YOU EVEN DARE TO RUN AWAY FROM ME WHEN I'M NOT FINISHED TALKING, LYCIA?"

Lycia could hear her mother's screams, but she pretended to be deaf as she grabbed her phone and looked at the screen. However, she immediately frowned when she found out that it was a call from the hospital.
