In the outskirts of the Cleric City in a small inn. Through one of the windows morning light seeped in. The light falls on the face of a sleeping teenager. His eyes flickered for a moment then he opened them.
Xavier sat on his bed. It was a new day. A new beginning. Today he will give the trials to join the army.
He freshened up and got ready. He wore the clothes that he had bought yesterday. A plain white shirt with black trousers. He looked in the mirror.
He was looking at himself and imprinting his image so that when he again sees himself he will be able to determine the changes he had.
After eating breakfast he walked towards the army hall it was a building that was partly in inner city partly in outer city.
He reached the gates of the building. At this moment lots of young men were present here. He could see hundreds of people.
It was easy to guess their purpose, they were also here for recruitment.
At this moment a bearded middle aged man came out from the building. He was wearing the army uniform.
It was evidently higher level than other uniforms wore by guards. It was a flaming red uniform having a blazing eagle imprinted in the front.
The whole uniform could evidently invoke the spirits of every person present. His presence was sharp and immediately the atmosphere became silent.
"The first test you have to pass is quite simple, you just have to keep standing for a minute."
Right after his voice sounded a pressure started descending on us.
Many weak willed men immediately knelt on the ground. Slowly the pressure started increasing.
With each passing second it felt like a mountain was slowly crushing us.
When Xavier thought that he won't be able to take anymore. The pressure retreated.
He immediately took deep breaths and gathered power in his knees and stood straight. Now he could see around.
Most of the people have fallen. Some were laid on the ground while many have fallen unconscious.
Xavier broke into cold sweats. If he has not been subjected to the pressure in the temple he may also not be able to take this test.
The instructor looked towards everyone. '231 people that's better than previous times.'
"Now all those who passed follow behind me"
After commanding he moved swiftly inside his gait straight. His steps firm.
Xavier along with other candidates followed after him. The first test has ended and hundreds of people failed.
Inside the building was an inner courtyard. It was a place for soldiers to train there were many weapons placed on racks on one side.
Everybody was lined up.
"Now I will be measuring your potential for Spirit energy. This stone in my hand can measure the potential of a person by measuring his affinity."
While saying so he took out a transparent stone. It was nothing special but it was the thing that would decide everyone's future.
" The potential of people is divided into separate grades corresponding to the colours showed by the Affinity Stone. I will now be stating the different ranks of potential."
He took a pause looked at everyone's reaction and then continued
"From the bottom the potential are graded from White tier talent then yellow tier, green and finally blue tier talents.
While there are many tiers above this blue you are not even qualified to think about it.
They are further divided into low, middle, upper and top tier. Blue tier talent are people who are considered genius among geniuses.
Our city is having only one low blue tier talent. You all know her it's Young Miss Sophia of house Evergreen. If you all have even White tier talent you all should be glad."
'So she has a lower blue tier talent. She really is in her own separate league.'
He lightly shook his head and decided to focus on the present situation.
"All those who do not have talent for becoming a warrior will be disqualified. And don't think of anything as unfair. All these standing outside may have better talent than you but they lack the disposition so they are not here.
If you lack talent then don't blame anyone just accept it."
After this everyone's potential was checked.
While this was happening suddenly a commotion sounded from the front. I saw that in front a teenager around 14 years of age was tested. The stone was of a medium shade green colour.
"He is having a middle green tier talent!"
"Oh my heavens!"
Everybody was stunned even the instructor was surprised. He asked for his name.
The teenager knew that he has the upper hand now.
"I am John" he introduced himself haughtily.
The instructor surprisingly didn't mind his tone and said him to go forward carefully.
After this the checking continued. There was another green tier talent. He was a lower one albeit.
The teenager immediately went towards John and started bootlicking him. He wanted to hug his thigh.
The rest were uneventful the highest that has gone was yellow lower tier.
All the people who were having potential started grouping towards John.
Next finally my chance came. I carefully put my hand on the rock.
I was practically shaking when I put my hand. Finally the result that will decide my future will be in front of me.
I desperately prayed for me to have potential even a white one was fine.
And then came the time for judgement…
